Urgent: Need advice/tips pairing clowns!

Hey guys,

So I've had a small-- maybe 1-2 inch-- "Half-Striped" Clownfish already in my tank, and I just put in a huge, mature, female True Percula Clownfish that is about 5-6 inches..

My battle plan is to just leave them both in the tank and see how things play out, but I'm wondering if there is anything specific I can do to higher the chances of them pairing rather than just tolerating themselves.

I really would love to Pair these Clowns!
Experts please help!

LOL. Well those are opposite ends of the spectrum. My guess is they will be fine. Are you sure the female is a true perc? I've never seen or heard of one that big. Can you post a pic? I recently introduced a clown that was about 4 months old to my clown that is female, and about 2". They have had 0 problems. I think the larger clowns know that a tiny one isn't gonna be a problem, and so no fighting for "femaleness" takes place. I did have a pair and both clowns were roughly the same size although one was the dominant in the tank. They fought for a while. Unfortunately while moving tanks the male carpet surfed, which is why I put in a new one. I think you'll be fine.

Edit: I'd really like a pic. Largest clown I've seen was about 6 in but it was a tomato. Never seen a perc larger than 3ish inches.

Here is the photo of the female!

It appears to maybe be True Percula the eyes appear to be orange around the black center. Can you post a better picture of this one I'm having a hard time seeing the eyes for id?

What are you calling a half stripe clownfish? Can you post a picture please? I'm guessing its a missbar of some sort but would be helpful

Well hopefully your first one is still a male, depending on which it is closer to, 1 or 2"
So w/ that in mind, I would definitely intro in a breeder box or specimen container, see if it does the twitch when they are close.
You are actually doing opposite than what most of us do, intro a young male to an established female, but if existing is still male should be fine.
A female of that size could kill it in no time at all, so if you like that clown, I would definitely keep isolated and easily removable until you examine their behavior.
