URGENT: UV sterilizer and ick

Hello,

I have a 180gallons tank and I have 3 tang (the blue hyppo tang, naso elegens tang and a powder brown tang). They all have ick on their body.

As a treament, I soak their food in the GarlicGuard solution every time a feed the fish. But the ick seems to increase.

Question: I am looking to buy a Current USA 40W UV sterilizer to kill the ick eggs before they hook on the fish. Does the UV will really help or it will be useless?

UV sterilizer will not work to rid a closed system of ich. They are only good if you have multiple tanks and want to keep the transfer from one tank to another, like an LFS or wholesaler.

Only proven methods to cure ich is Hypo or copper. FW dips don't work on ich.

If you don't want/can't treat the whole tank you are better off spending the money on a QT tank, treat the fish there, leave main tank fishless for 4-6 weeks.
