Seeing if someone knows what new spectrapure DI resin would look like. I openned a bag I bought 1.5 months ago, and openned it today to change out my resin, well the resin was not dark it was almost beige, and my TDS meter read 14 ppm until I pulled the cannister. The one I recieved is Color-ind strong-acid-cation DI resin.

Only one canister? You got a cation resin but no anion resin? That might explain the TDS. If it is a single DI chamber then you need a mixed resin.

Yes, and it's fairly typical if you buy strong anion & strong cation indicating resins as separate components that the indicating dye will be in the anion-exchange resin, while the cation exchange resin will be "au naturel".

It sounds like what happened is that you received resin intended for the recharge of a water softener; many water softeners contain cation-exchange resin only rather than a mixed cation/anion exchange bed.

Got it, I wish the sales person would have been knowledgable or got someone that was instead of telling its good thats what you want. But it doesn't surprise me. So what I need is anion resin and I should be cooking.

yes all you would need now is the anion resin, you can run them seperatly in 2 different canisters but they work best if you mix them together
