used goods/complete systems

Here another idea.... Take 2 ratchet straps and blue styro board. The end the tank which is on the tailgate ...strap on some of the blue board on the sides and end of the tank...so blue styro will cover the tank sides and end .. Then with the other ratchet strap anchor the tank to the truck There you go no worries about a trailer... make sure there is no space between the tank bottom and the tailgate section you may need to shim it or like Jeremy said plywood under all of it..

Hmmm...there is a place on the way to Glen Aubry (off 26 somewhere), but I can't remember the name. Our friend used them to move (they rented a large trailer and it was very affordable).

If I remember the name I'll let ya know...but you may want to search for it too...
Cratos's (sp?) I know they put my hitch on my E.
Did you guys ever pick up the tank?

No,

We were not confident that the tank/stand/sump/lights would fit securely in a 5' bed. A trailer would have made the transportation expense a little steep.

Still searching for a tank. I have been thinking of converting my 30gallon to a reef while I continue searching for a bargain.

What about DaveVG's 90 gal? Is that smaller than you were looking to go?

I am not sure what he has left, but I don't think all of his stuff is spoken for...maybe you could work out a deal for the remaider of his corals and everything...

Also the place I was thinking of for trailer rental is:
(they are very reasonable)
Croft Trailers & Hitches
RR 26, Glen Aubrey, NY 13777
(607) 862-3294

I sent a PM on the 210
If, and I repeat, if I were to get the 210 in Pittsburgh, is anyone available for a road trip?

I am... plus i have buddies down that way, so we could head down in teh afternoon, crash (and drink) at his place, pick up tank in am and head home...

Robinson,
If the Pittsburgh tank were to happen, It would need to picked up this weekend. Decisions decisions.
Anybody have any thoughts on this tank.

Still looking into the 210 in Pittsburgh.
I am looking for suggestions on the best/safest way to house the livestock while the tank is set up and cycles?

The tank shouldn't really cycle. The rock shouldn't die off and the lovestock would be fine...I have two tanks that are empty if you need temporary housing......

Dave

If your planning a reeftank, you would need to lose alot of that livestock; especially the Harlequin Tusk, Squirrelfish, and Vlamingi.

Why the Vlamingi?
any others that might be an issue in an eventual reef tank?

Dave, If this happens, I might end up taking you up on that offer

Still trying to plan the logistics prior to committing.
I realize the local frag meet is next weekend, but, is anybody available for a road trip this weekend or next? Most likely looking at next weekend at this point,
The seller indicated that he might be able to provide some additional help on his end, but I would still need a few people to help unload and set-up when I returned to Vestal.

He has a lot of reef unfriendly fish in there. The Christmas Wrasse, snowflake eel and crosshatch trigger would also not be great. The Vlamingi is simply too monstrous a fish and would potentialy overwhelm the bioload of a tank. The eel would not eat coral but would be a danger to many reef friendly fish and would need to consume a prodigious amount of protein (eg. beefheart, silversides etc.0 and again would add to tank pollution.

WOW!,

That is a lot more non reef friendly fish that i originally thought.
I might need to rethink this or hope that I can find homes for them all.

Those fish are huge! I am actually amazed that this guy is able to keep the tank clean. I think you may have a hard time getting rid of some of them...but if you want the tank, I would start listing the fish somewhere now so you can see if there is interest.

Maybe ABC would house them for you and sell them on consignment. Check with Tim and Angelo.
