Using turkey baster on LR

I don't know about anyone else here, but mine just don't seem to last that long. I find that I have to buy a new one every few months. Maybe I'm just buying really cheap ones.
I generally place the baster point in some holes/openings of the rock and get what the powerheads can't. you have to remember that there are a lot of critters that might eat outside of rock but go back into their holes to digest and eventually poop. It's kind of cool to shoot a squirt of water with the blaster in one hole and see the dust clouds coming out of three different places on the same rock.

I have not had one wear out yet... Using them off and on for about 3 years. I do believe the ones I get from Publix (here in Atlanta), with the white bulbs that look more like a lightbulb (more spherical) are a lot better than the pink/yellow (or whatever) ones that are more "tapered". The ones with the big bulbs give more water per squeeze.

Not sure what they cost... just a LOT less than almost anything else!

I use an MJ that a move around the tank to do this... at least in my bare bottom system.
I do not have a BB tank, but I do this too. The turkey baster works well, but using a spare MJ900 to blast off the rocks makes the job easier, quicker, and more thorough. It's kind of like washing the dog with a bucket versus a hose...either way the dog gets cleaned :)
