Vacuuming

Hello all,

I have a new biocube 32 that has been cycling for about 7 weeks. I've been doing 20% weekly water changes and was vacuuming each week but recently read somewhere on the internet I don't remember where not to vacuum the sand deep. I was sucking up the sand deep weekly.
My question is how and how often should I vacuum?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

You should vac every time you change water just don't do a deep vac of the sand. The sandbed over time builds up all kinds of stuff that should stay in the tank, just not floating around everywhere.

This is close..
If you over feed or have dead spots in your "SHALOW Sand bed you should vacuum it when you do water changes . depending on your bio load feeding habits and over all nutrient factors..

If its a deep sand bed DO NOT EVER TOUCH IT.. Keep lots of snails that burrow into the sand.. I have dsb deep sand bed but mine is in buckets that a rotate out tossing one and refreshing it every 6 months.. this keeps me having two 3 year old buckets of sand...

So either vacuum it every time or leave it be nothing in between

Exactly how deep is your sand bed? A picture would definitely help. Just so we know exactly what your dealing with.
