variable pumps?

question 1: Is there any other pump available that can be programmed like an Abyzz pump that can be set from 0-100% variable speed of the pump?

question 2: what would be the cons or pros of using a pump like that for return purpose instead of just using it as a water movement pump?

I was thinking of using a return pump like that setting a power flux from lets say 20% to 100% depending on the power of the pump to create a variable intake of fresh filtered water into the system. I would assume this would obviously effect the overflow of the system but would this be a con?

please advise
thanks

water will be coming from my overflow run into a turf scrubber and some part will run into a fuge with cheato and life rock which at its turn gets through a skimmer to finally get all back together ready to get pumped back into the DT

I'd buy the lowest wattage pump that would send 3 to 5x your system's volume through your sump.

Keep it simple. :)

For additional and/or variable flow, one or two powerheads in the tank.

thanks for the opinion
I asked for advise on some thoughts for research purposes
please stick with the questions
Thank you

With variable amounts of flow, how would you set up your ato? Would work better on a closed loop.

I have seen actualy many very succesfull scrubbers set up horizontaly with a surge device.
Actualy most industrial set up scrubber like filtration are set up with a surge principle?
any one else with advice or thoughts on above questions

I think I have spoken with you before. If you work for PCI radios, I installed one of your setups in my Sand Rail. I believe we spoke during my ordering process when I was trying to figure out all the parts I would need.

Back on topic.. The other option for a variable speed pump would be the red dragon which I think they have a new name for. That said, I do think a variable speed pump is much better suited to recirculation as opposed to a return pump unless your sole purpose is to dial in the flow or use it on an ATS as a surge device.

and that would be exactly the idea to create a surge effect on the out tahe of the tank to feed the ATS with a surge?
so to the original questions would it create a negative effect on other things on the tank?
