Veg for tangs

I have two tangs, an orange shoulder and a blond Naso, in my seven footer tank. Been feeding them nori as well as meaty foods, should they be having anything else? Is there much difference between red and green nori, should I alternate?

Mine eat SF bay Spirulina brine shrimp mixed with Formula two flakes everyday, and every other day I put some Julian Sprung red sea weed in.

I take some macro algae from my refugium now and then and use it to feed my purple tang.

On a completely different note - I feed very small bits of banana to my tang now and then as well. Whether or not you should or what the benefits may be are up for debate. I was bored one day and was feeling experimental. The tangs and angels that I've kept go absolutely nuts (perhaps at the scent). Don't feed too much as you don't want cloudy water or excessive waste in the water.

Its funny how you mentioned banana when i was snorkeling in Dominican and mexico the fish( mainly sargent major damsels) went nuts for it

A friend of mine had a similar experience in Cuba. I don't know what the nutritional value may be or the waste ramifications are....but the frenzy is a site to see (both in the wild and in a display).

From some research I have done, red and brown algae's are more digestible (why you mostly see green poop when they have green algae).

Red and brown is somewhere between 70-80% digestible while green is 20-30%.
