Velvet/Brook/Ich and fallow tanks

I've recently suffered a couple of losses to what I originally though was Ich, but may actually be velvet or brook. The remaining fish are in Q and I hope I can save the rest.

I know that conventional wisdom says that 8 weeks of a fallow tank should eradicate Ich from the display. If it was actually brook or velvet, would that 8 week period eradicate those as well, or can these survive in a fallow tank? Are there any parasites that survive longer than this without a host?

Eight weeks would be long enough for either ich or velvet. Brook is another story. It has not been as well researched and might not need a host to survive.

It is my understanding that Cirolanid isopods can live up to six months without a host.
