vertex puratek system

I was looking at ordering one of the vertex puratek systems, but, can you answer some questions first ...

> how long can we expect the membrane to last if it is in use for a 80 gallon system - water changes every couple of weeks?

> if i use a float switch on the clean water reservoir, will the system shut off the booster pump when the float switch turns off??

> will the tds meter read in and out water or is it only one stage?

Thanks.

who has one, i am looking at RO/DI systems and i really like the look/design of the vertex.

are the membranes standard size?

All their membranes are standard size.
The unit will shut off once the Res. is full and the float valve closes.
As far as how long they last depends to many factors such as your city water. We have been using one of these units here at the office for the past 8 months and the only thing we changed was the Sediment filter. Ultimately if you like you can put any other membrane or filter in these units but the Membrane supplied is GE (US made) and widely used in the hobby and other industries.
The unit only displays the product water's TDS.

thanks for the reply ... one question i have is that i have heard that by keeping a waste to good water ratio that is so low (relative to other systems), the membrane will only last half the time of a different system ... is there any truth to this??

Thanks.

I wish I could answer that question, I am not an RO expert in any way but I belive with the frequent Flush function this can be avoided. Personally I think even if you loose a couple of months of use out of the membrane still worth it since you are not wasting that much water.
Again as I mentioned with our unit we have used it often and after 8 months TDS still at Zero.

You should ask Premium, I have no idea about retail pricings or in that matter wholesale pricing , I am just a little guy here answering tech questions and warranty :)
Sorry about that.

A regular float will be just fine for turning these ro/di's off. You do not need to use the mechanical pressure solenoid with these.

The replacement membrane for these is $69.95.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I have one of these. They are amazing little units. I have mine run to a float switch in my ATO. no added equipment was needed. have had it for what about 5 months and no issues. The system has a backflush allowing the system filters to last longer than others.

I have one absolutley love it, best unit I have ever used and makes water very fast, all @ 000 tds and have made over 500 gallons so far no issues

I give it a 9 or 10, I was going to spend 899 on a spectrapure unit, i am glad this one came out

I have worked on huge industrial units and this is just a mini version of them. This is one of the best units you can buy. Very well built.

I just got one today, and it seems different when operate.
is the pump turn on and off within like 30 seconds? it is strange.

It should not be turning off and on that fast. Do you have the unit running backwards by any chance? Keep in mind this unit runs the sediment / carbon / DI filter going from the right side to left, not left side to right like we are used to with all other ro/di system. You could possibly be feeding the unit in reverse.

Jeremy,

Thanks for the reply, What happened was i hooked up the inlet water to a prefilter before it go to the first chamber/canister. So I think the water going in is too weak that's why the pump keep pumping.

Once I hooked it directly to the first chamber/Canister it work like a cham.

Thanks,
Lam
