Anyone have ANY idea what this is? It looks like a crater/volcano like thingy on a piece of rubble (with zoos).

Upon touching it with a feeding stick it closed completely. it felt kinda soft around the edges..

All input is appreciated.. Thanks

the whole area around it is obviously part of it.. that "mound" thingy must be it's mouth or something... i just saw it opening and closing a couple times in a row.. where it made the whole rock shake while closing.. the "sac" it's attached to (soft material) seems to be about a half inch/0.75 inch big (ball like)...

so strange... The zoanthids seem to have attached to that actual sac like thing....

Alright.. I've got 2 videos.. . They're a heck of a lot better than the pictures...

first video you can hear my wife complaining about having to do poke the thing.. and you see it closing up and moving its complete "body"?

In the second video you can see 2 of those openings.. and the same scenario really... except in this video you hear my wife apologizing for poking the zoo's too ! ;)

Freaking weird i tell ya!!!!

It's probably safe...I would keep it until you find what it is...If it's been there for a while it's safe.

sea squirts are reef safe and will harm nothing in your tank. the are harmless filter feeders and they help filter the water in your tank. i only wish they could breed them some how and sell them.
