The cheap Koralias you are refering to - as opposed to the more expensive Koralias, or Tunze or Vortech - only have two tricks. Turn on. Turn off.
The other three have variable speeds and controllers that push them through many - arguably highly beneficial - comPlex flow patterns of alternating speeds, including varying patterns across multiple pumps (every pump not doing the same thing all the time).
Now whether that's worth the financial difference is a subjective question.
