"Very nice" & deep water acros...

Anyone who got the deep water acros ... How are they doing?

Either mine was dipped too long or they RTNd... Or they are just very pale.

I hope that they just bleached for now. Will update in 2-3 weeks.

Just curious how other people's frags are doing.

If they are straight brought in from ocean, we may need to consider buying large colonies that the club cuts up once it has stabilized in one reefers tank. I get sense that shipping, plus holding tank, plus final tank is too many "water quality" differences to ensure survival.

I propose the club buy whole colonies and "aquaculture/acclimate" them and heal frags before bringing to club.

I wanted the "very nice" but it was gone when I got a turn. A forest fire digi I grabbed didn't look so great when I unpacked it, but I'm hopeful. I grabbed a setosa at the end that everyone wrote off as a goner, and for good reason! I have a large colony that is doing great so it'll be a rescue attempt!

Everything else looks great though. That's a bit surprising seeing how long they were out in the heat in the tiny containers :)

I'm all for having a large colony that everyone is interested in and fragging it up after being stabilized. Maybe similar to the grow out contest?

So far all my stuff that I got is doing well. I did end up chucking a small blasto that I discovered had about 6 tiny aiptasia all over the plug and one on the rock it was glued to

I'm glad I didn't bring anything as I'm pretty sure I've got a mild case of dinoflagellates going right now.....which sucks

Ron, I agree with you since we discussed it at the meeting. We just need to confirm individuals willing to house these colonies that have a track record. Plus there has to be some incentive for the individuals taking on the task in my opinion. Maybe once its colored up and pieces are fragged the individual gets to keep the main portion. Say we get 5 colonies and each produces 6-8 frags. Even at the low end your talking about 30 frags pumped into the club as grow outs, not bad.

I got a of the acros and they seem to be ok,but let's see about a few more days. I also got a blato frag and it's doing well. I always cut everything i get off the plug or rock and dip it so there's no suprises.

The pieces I got are looking good. I've been measuring the temp of frag water when I get home from meets. OCD geek, I admit! Most of the year temps are low, 72-74. When I got home Saturday the frags were at 86!

Yeah John I was thinking about that very issue. We were fortunate, imho, that Saturday's temps were "only" in the mid to upper 80s instead of mid 90s.

Well my forest fire digi I was excited about got knocked back behind my rock work. I can see it, but it is impossible to rescue :( On the other hand the setosa that I was sure was going to be dead is making a strong comeback. Here it is compared to my setosa.
