very very very rare

they might be rare and expensive at the moment but give it another year or 2 when more people are bought them and fragged them on to other people and they'll be no more expensive or rare than any other mushrooms.

When the shrooms are small, they tend to only carry one color, more dominantly Yellow/Orange.

After they get larger, the red starts to come in and all.

hopefully soon, some other colors will start to show up, as this little mushroom gets bigger.

nice mushroom, the color is crazy, anyone have any ideas where is this mushroom from?:inlove:

Around how much do these things run? They look Very cool. As much a si HATE shrrom, I wouldnt mind having this one

Really nice shrooms! I don't even like shrooms but I jumped on the chance to get one from thecaptivereef a while back. It seems like there are a few of these multi-colored ones that are far and away above the rest (just a few) - but I'm wondering if there is any lineage on that crazy strain that Rommel has/had. I believe Mike at thecaptivereef got his from Rommel (but not sure). It looks like dan10342's may have come from this strain? And definitely reefready's (al g b).

I can honestly say that of that particular strain, there is no photoshopping going on. Mine is TINY, and I mean PINHEAD TINY, but when my actinics are on, you can see an insane orange pinhead from across the room. I am actually amazed that of all my corals, when I make my morning check of my corals - it's the first coral I look to be healthy!

I have a similar 'multi-color' mushroom, which I placed it in my medium-light "dirty tank" (6-bulb T5, minimal protein skimming, 10 ppm nitrates) and it is doing quite well and occasionally produces a baby. They actually color up as they age - they start out bright orange, then red marks appear and get larger. Much later....green shows up.

This thread makes me lolz, these are just colored up metallic red/orange Vietnam mushrooms. They ALL color up like that in good conditions, just like the pink lemonade acro was around for years before Hugo colored it up and it stayed that way. Am I the only one that's hearing the theme here, "they start off red, then the orange sets in and finally the green"? That means it starts off as a metallic red mushroom, come on guys, wake up, threads like these are called hype.

Yes, the metallic ones come in pretty infrequently from Vietnam in colonies of only 8 or so polyps, and yes, they take a few months to color up in good lighting. That doesn't make them "rare", just "very very very nice", which is a more realistic title for this thread.

Here's a rare mushroom, not saying it's nicer or not since that's subjective. They only come from one section of an indo-pacific island and there's about 6-8 in the country, I've had one for a year and a half and it's grown 1/4", they're about 3/8" thick and have a smooth body unlike the pimpled vietnam mushrooms. Finally scored another one a month ago. Unlike the $450 cheezburger vietnam mushrooms a bunch of people who got them from a bunch of different places won't be posting pics of this one. Because they're actually very, very, very rare, and chances are my pics are the only time these are going to appear in this thread. Unlike the hyped ones. I also have no interest in selling them, ever. Unlike the hyped ones. You guys need to wake up a bit...

The year and a half old one.

Not quite - they start off orange, then red, then...wait....wait a little longer..... green. Different from the metallic red mushroom, since the base is orange. They reproduce so fast, I don't expect them to maintain such a high price tag for very long.

Nope. Like you can see in Chelsey's post

http://www.zoaddict.com/images/chelseyspics/cube/shrooms/flash.jpg

They go both ways. You can find tons of pics online of orange ones showing red and red ones showing orange if you look hard enough :)

Say what you like but those mushrooms are absolutely gorgeous.
We live in South Africa and I have never ever seen anything like that. We will just have to wait a few years and hopefully we will get them coming in. Enjoy them.

christ the arrogance in here is astounding ... comments like "this cost more than your whole tank" "this comes from one little island in the pacific" etc etc just annoy the hell out of me .... They are morphs. Yes they are nice, yes they must have cost you a fair bit, but get off your high horse.

Just showcase your nice morphs and leave the arrogance behind. You're not special, you just happen to be willing to spend a bit where others won't.

Blah.

I know at least one collector in the North of Western Australia has started diving a few new areas and is finding lots of nice morphs.. bound to be a few freaks (nice looking freaks though they may be) amongst them :)

ya, of all the rude (and baseless) posts I have read over the years here on RC, I would hafta vote that one pretty near the top of the list

leave the arrogance behind. You're not special, .

You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. You are the same decaying piece of organic matter as everyone else :hammer:
