very very very rare

Cool pieces! I guess that "very very very rare" mushroom isn't actually rare at all (in case anyone succumbed to that belief). :celeb1:

Nice shrooms... However, the only reason these go for what they do is because people are crazy enough to pay that much. Once they do, they refuse to sell em for much less.

Get nice corals, frag em like crazy, sell the frags for a much more reasonable price, and bring the prices down. Then everyone can have nice corals without having to bend over.

People stop! Look what this mushroom is doing to us. We must destroy it.

Incidentally, I sold my first baby for $35. And the original purchase was nowhere near $500.

Very Nice

This thread makes me lolz, these are just colored up metallic red/orange Vietnam mushrooms. They ALL color up like that in good conditions, just like the pink lemonade acro was around for years before Hugo colored it up and it stayed that way. Am I the only one that's hearing the theme here, "they start off red, then the orange sets in and finally the green"? That means it starts off as a metallic red mushroom, come on guys, wake up, threads like these are called hype.

Yes, the metallic ones come in pretty infrequently from Vietnam in colonies of only 8 or so polyps, and yes, they take a few months to color up in good lighting. That doesn't make them "rare", just "very very very nice", which is a more realistic title for this thread.

Here's a rare mushroom, not saying it's nicer or not since that's subjective. They only come from one section of an indo-pacific island and there's about 6-8 in the country, I've had one for a year and a half and it's grown 1/4", they're about 3/8" thick and have a smooth body unlike the pimpled vietnam mushrooms. Finally scored another one a month ago. Unlike the $450 cheezburger vietnam mushrooms a bunch of people who got them from a bunch of different places won't be posting pics of this one. Because they're actually very, very, very rare, and chances are my pics are the only time these are going to appear in this thread. Unlike the hyped ones. I also have no interest in selling them, ever. Unlike the hyped ones. You guys need to wake up a bit...

The year and a half old one.

The month old one, she's still settling in and just starting to color up, they're a finicky bunch :)

When the shrooms are small, they tend to only carry one color, more dominantly Yellow/Orange.

After they get larger, the red starts to come in and all.

hopefully soon, some other colors will start to show up, as this little mushroom gets bigger.

Now thats a shroom I could lust after... a real beauty!

Update.
So after 9 months, still it has not produce babies. But successfully increase a bigger circumference and its fuller in size.
The colors on in is priceless.

anyone have recommendation on the best food i can feed this particular shroom.

thank you all

you could try fragging it.... But I understand if you'd be terrified doing that since its an expensive shroom.

Are you feeding it regularly? I've noticed some of my shrooms when fed regularly don't do anything but grow.... But if you stop feeding them for an extended time, they start splitting.

and where in indo are this from specifically?

If he told you that he would have to kill you

Remember these are VERY, VERY, VERY RARE

Sweet, so you must have seen a picture of them anywhere on the internet aside from the ones I posted here :) Oh wait, you didn't? hmmm... weird. I wonder how you'd define something that no pics exist of online aside from the ones I posted... hmmm...

There's hundreds of pics all over the internet of the "jawbreaker/acid trip/cheezburger" mushrooms. I picked up 6 polyps of those for $8 a piece from an LFS a few weeks ago. Before that I'd found 2 polyps at $4 each.

Whatever that means is up to you, either way I'm not actively misrepresenting them as something they're not to get $3-500 a pop from people who don't know any better, they're just an example of something that's legitimately not dime a dozen in this hobby, unlike what this pointless hype thread is based on.

I'm just a admirer of these beautiful mushrooms reguardless of how rare they are makes no difference to me. It be nice to have one or two one day but I don't feel the need to toot my own horn or put anyone elses thread down either.

On a side note if your looking to sell your "jawbreaker/acid trip/cheezburger" mushrooms LMK I'd be interested if they are nice looking:)

I think you misunderstood my point though, I'm not big on the "rare" label, I just posted as an example something that was rare in a thread where people are making something that's not rare out to be rare. If a few dozen people post pictures of the same coral in a thead, it's not rare.

I like my softie dominated nano, the mushrooms all look cool. I like the little neon green vietnam mushrooms, and the blue and red rhodactis. I got lucky in getting the rare red ones but that doesn't make me like them any less or more, nor do I feel a need to create a thread about how rare they are so that people selling them can justify slapping a $3-500 price tag on them.

If you want some of the cheezburger mushrooms keep a look out for any LFS that gets in the red mushroom colonies from Indonesia that look like a bunch of different red mushrooms glued onto a rock, that's where they come in from. Just take a real close look at the rock and you might see a polyp or two on there. Here's one of my $8 ones, it's gotten a lot more green, I also have a $4 metallic orange one with green streaks :)

Organism, if they're really common for you to find, would you be willing to find a few for us who don't live near a LFS that gets shrooms from indonesia? My LFS would recognize the shroom immediately and mark it up.

Again, I'm not justifying the prices that these guys fetch, I think they're pretty insanely high... But I admit that I would like a few of them too.

Can't help you there, I don't sell corals, I just like going treasure hunting at LFS... Chances are you have an LFS in your area that gets corals from Indo though, most shops don't know where their corals originated since they just get a variety from their suppliers. It's not like every rock has them, which is why I love the LFS that have a tank they just throw loose mushroom polyps into since they can pile up in there :)

Some Vietnam mushrooms color up the same too, only those start orange and red then get some green. The Indo ones tend to start red and green then get some orange... Thing is the colors are pretty crappy under most LFS lights, so you have to use your imagination on what something might become.
