Cool pieces! I guess that "very very very rare" mushroom isn't actually rare at all (in case anyone succumbed to that belief). :celeb1:
Nor are they worth $500 a polyp. LOL
P.S. They are still just mushrooms!!!
This thread makes me lolz, these are just colored up metallic red/orange Vietnam mushrooms. They ALL color up like that in good conditions, just like the pink lemonade acro was around for years before Hugo colored it up and it stayed that way. Am I the only one that's hearing the theme here, "they start off red, then the orange sets in and finally the green"? That means it starts off as a metallic red mushroom, come on guys, wake up, threads like these are called hype.
Yes, the metallic ones come in pretty infrequently from Vietnam in colonies of only 8 or so polyps, and yes, they take a few months to color up in good lighting. That doesn't make them "rare", just "very very very nice", which is a more realistic title for this thread.
Here's a rare mushroom, not saying it's nicer or not since that's subjective. They only come from one section of an indo-pacific island and there's about 6-8 in the country, I've had one for a year and a half and it's grown 1/4", they're about 3/8" thick and have a smooth body unlike the pimpled vietnam mushrooms. Finally scored another one a month ago. Unlike the $450 cheezburger vietnam mushrooms a bunch of people who got them from a bunch of different places won't be posting pics of this one. Because they're actually very, very, very rare, and chances are my pics are the only time these are going to appear in this thread. Unlike the hyped ones. I also have no interest in selling them, ever. Unlike the hyped ones. You guys need to wake up a bit...
The year and a half old one.
The month old one, she's still settling in and just starting to color up, they're a finicky bunch
When the shrooms are small, they tend to only carry one color, more dominantly Yellow/Orange.
After they get larger, the red starts to come in and all.
hopefully soon, some other colors will start to show up, as this little mushroom gets bigger.

and where in indo are this from specifically?
If he told you that he would have to kill you
Remember these are VERY, VERY, VERY RARE
I'm just a admirer of these beautiful mushrooms reguardless of how rare they are makes no difference to me. It be nice to have one or two one day but I don't feel the need to toot my own horn or put anyone elses thread down either.
On a side note if your looking to sell your "jawbreaker/acid trip/cheezburger" mushrooms LMK I'd be interested if they are nice looking
Can't help you there, I don't sell corals, I just like going treasure hunting at LFS... Chances are you have an LFS in your area that gets corals from Indo though, most shops don't know where their corals originated since they just get a variety from their suppliers. It's not like every rock has them, which is why I love the LFS that have a tank they just throw loose mushroom polyps into since they can pile up in there
Some Vietnam mushrooms color up the same too, only those start orange and red then get some green. The Indo ones tend to start red and green then get some orange... Thing is the colors are pretty crappy under most LFS lights, so you have to use your imagination on what something might become.
