I agree with Gary M. wholeheartedly. We shouldn't become so politically correct that it violates the stability or cohesiveness of our community to respectfuly disagree on certain points. We are all passionate about our hobby and the life forms that it represents. I don't believe Nate was disrespectful in posing his concerns to Namyar. As he stated, we have all made multiple mistakes in this hobby and have made poor choices in lifestock selection. But we learn, and hopefully, through vehicles such as this forum, share our collective knowledge and so reduce these errors. Without candid discussion and respectful debate, there can be no advancement of knowledge.

O.K. since everyone is talking about my fish and I haven't been on in a few hours but received many pm's about what was said I have a few things to say. First of all nwrogers I a sorry that you feel that way and I accept your apology. In light of every thing that you said about good husbandry and so on to me good husbandry would to not let this fish get to big for my tank before I pass him on to someone else. I know that he will get to big someday. He is doing well and getting feed in the am and pm nori with the yellow tang. I feel that as long as I do not mistreat the fish and keep him well I can do anything that I want and like LFS _worker said isn't''t taking fish from the ocean bad enough.
Well I don't know what else to say but sorry if someone doesn't like my choice of fish but he will be well taken care of and removed to big.

well pretty much..People opening their yap and telling others how and what to put in their tank..A couple people were pretty hostile IMO..
You don't like others stock,shut your yap and say nothing.. :smokin:

Actually, I think it has gotten worse. People don't bother to apologize anymore. Back then they did.
FWIW there are quite a few who don't even bother posting advice anymore because they either end up accused being "preachy" or they end up being completely ignored. That's quite a shame because there's a whole wealth of knowledge out there that people no longer feel comfortable sharing. I've been in the hobby 10 years now and there are quite a few that helped me along who I hardly ever see on here anymore.

I hear that Mel I normally retype post about 5 times before I do it just so I dont say the wrong thing then I still end up getting yelled at lately but hey to each there own. I mean if we all did everything exactly the same wouldn't we all have the same tanks? Thats whats cool about this hobby everyone and everything is different. We shouldn't have to fight or put people down for their points of view

:thumbsup: Usually I have a hard time typing out replies to those who have little experience but seem to know it all and think that they are miraculously going to be able to do something that no one else (with more experience) has been able to do. I used to edit and re-edit but lately I just delete. Sometimes it seems as pointless as trying to tell a teenager not to do something even though they're going to do it anyways. (nothing against teens, I've seen some grown adults be stubborn as heck lol)

Fish are being taken from the ocean the same as the sun will rise tomorrow... it's gonna happen, a fact. After the fish go to the lfs, they will either die from stress or be sold. Now, here's the part that bothers me: if people are going to be ridiculed for purchasing a fish that will end up being too big for their tank, where else will the fish end up if they don't take it? Dying in the lfs??? Or perhaps with someone else who has NO CLUE about reef/fish keeping. In my opinion, there aren't a better group of people who are more qualified to responsibly care for a fish that would otherwise go elsewhere than the people right here on RC. Knowledge is power.

True enough. A lot of times people argue that if we don't buy the fish then the LFS will stop carrying them but on more than one occasion I've had LFS owners tell me that the suppliers often send them things regardless of whether or not they wanted it. I wonder if that was a "cop out" or if there's truth to it?
