Geo skimmers. They dont work without airpump, force feeding? What shame.
Just kidding,
Nanook, it is looking even better on duty.

Thanks. I am just amazed at the amount of skimmate I am getting now...I average about 2-3" per day of dark greenish-brown liquid. I just cleaned the cup a few minutes ago and will put another pic up on Thursday which will be about 1 1/2 days worth. It smells awful too, so I think the changes have made a significant improvement.

Nanook,
You dont need anymore changes, just stick with the adjustments and changes you already made. It seems you cought the perfect spot for that skimmers physical capacity.
Send more pictures and make us jealous.

I heard he was abducted by aliens!!!

Volcano1
Looking good;
Would a higher water level and a bit more air be better?
It seems Alita 60 would be the right pump for you IMHO.

Jump to the head of the line -- get your Volcano immediately

First come, first served: get a new 2460 direct from Scott with no delays!

Scott has finally finished my Volcano (after 5 months), but I've since decided to hold off on upgrading our display to 1200gal.

If you have a 2460 on order, or have been thinking about placing an order but scared off by the long delays, PM me and I'll make arrangements with Scott to ship directly to you. This is Scott's largest skimmer; the same model that Energy runs.

Is that to say that you have placed an order for a 2460, the 2460 has now been built, you have paid for the 2460, that you no longer want the 2460?
And that this 2460 is for sale by you, for direct shipment by Scott upon payment to you?
So as not to contravene R. C. rules, could you place an post in the For Sale thread?

well, not sure what the rules are about this, but could you post a link to your for sale thread when you get it opened ? I would be curious to follow it along (w/o having to go looking for it.. yea, call me lazy). Even with the problems we have had w/ trying to "tune" our 1860, if I had the room and the $$ I would buy that 2460 as I have long felt that it's size was the sweet spot for the pumps/NW that are employed on the Volcanos.

The first thing that comes to mind when reading that post (and the a few previous other posts) is that it seems that Scott is not gone, just having to go back to his old "day job" and is still building skimmers on the side ? That is good news to those of us that own his skimmers. Although maybe he is just building enough to cover the people who had already paid him a deposit ? Maybe someone close to him can find out, like Energy. I do know that the last time I spoke to Scott (which was ages ago), he had been working on a new design to the NW impellor (which might help some of us out that are not seeing the bubble density that we were hoping for).

Anyways, just idle wishful thinking on my part :).

Do you mean talking about it or actually doing it? I think there has been enough talk and now some people are actually taking some action...

Your right there has been a lot of talk with what would seem to be little action, but I would hope that the people taking action would post their results.

I have been trying to "tune" our Volcano. I also need to measure our skimmer bosy to compare to Volcano1's skimmer dimensions to see if that would help me decide about more/less injected air. But that is as far as I have gotten. And so far the tuning attempts have all come up empty.

I forgot to put the lid on before I took a nap and when I got up it had a nice foam dome and I wanted to share.

Did someone post on here that they removed the wet neck? If so does it just pop off or is it glued in place?

it just slides off. Ours was one of the first, since they he told me that he had updated the design. I had gotten the wet neck openly knowing that I would be a guniea pig, so no worries about it not having worked out for us.

Bear in mind that, at least ours, was not glued on. I cannot say that any subsequent designs were glued or not, but I doubt that they would be, since that would eliminate any possible adjustments (or which wet necks often need a fair amount of). It took a while to work ours off, and using vaseline on the neck helped <insert joke here>.
