I have a 100 gallons tank, dimension 60x18x22. I used to run with 2 modded Tunze 6025s and a SEIO M1100. Just got my Vortech powerhead last night and it takes place of the SEIO M1100. The powerhead is quiet at maximum speed. Problem I am facing is too much flow ...
I have a mix reef tank and as soon as the Vortech operate, my frogspawn, hammer, and torch corals all deflate fast.
I put 2 modded Tunze 6025s on one side of tank (1 at 3 inches from back wall and other 3 inches from front glass) about 5-6 inches down below surface and point straight at dead center of the tank. The 300 GPH return at 3 inches below surface at middle of tank also point dead center. The Vortech by itself on other end, center, and 5 inches below surface. I put the Vortech on Reef Crest (Yellow light on WWD) and speed reduce to about 1500-2000 GPH. The Tunze and Vortech powerhead form a flow like capital letter Y.
Any suggestion for me to take full advantage of the Vortech maximum speed?
BTW It does not come with a fish protective cover.
