Vortech Pumps

The flow might be there but how do you control the flow at this time. Untill the controler is out the only way I can se if by repeatedly turning the pumps on and poff with a home made controler system.

Then when the controler does come out the question will be how good is the controler and what will the price tag be? Personaly I'd have to get an extremly good deal on the Vortech pumps to invest in them now before a controler is out and I see some evaluations on it.

Lets see here two vortec pumps @ $295+ plus shipping and handling will be close to $650 now add a controler and one could be somewhere between $850 and $1050. What can you get from the competition for $850 or $1050 that has already been proven?

Lets see the new Hydra 1200gph pumps are under $60. So two of them would total $120. Then there suposed to comming out with a controler as well.

Sure the Tunze TS24 kit is $1,500 but you can get it today and not have wait for a controler to be designed.

And finaly you also have your Seio Pumps under $75.00 that are suposed to be comming out with a controler as well.

right now I have one in my 75 gal. and am going to be putting the other one in this tank also. hopefully it comes tomorrow. :)

My origional plan was two 6100 tunze streams in the 120 but my be considering the change to vortechs very soon.

Funny, I just bought another Tunze TS24 for under $900... not $1500. And the SEIO controller has been out since last fall. On a different note, the new SEIO polaria does look promising.

just like any good new product, they are not cheap. You have a lot of work that goes into testing prior to releasing them and if you want the latest and greatest you are going to have to pay for it. I am happy with them and can't wait for the multicontroller to come out.

These push more water than a 6100. I love Tunze's but switched to vortech(no heat/no cord, much less obtrusive) and wouldn't switch back. And I had my tunze's on a multi.(they are both great products though with top notch customer service)

A korallia is not a 'known' and pushes about ~35% of a vortech/6100, is huge in the tank and has a cord in the tank.

Like I said... Polario. That thing seems very promising. 10,000gph of movement, and it creates a wave action much like a wavebox. I just hope it doesnt cause some people's tanks to tip over.

I'm disappointed in the whole Vortech pump program. There was so much hype to the product before the release. Now they are finally getting the pumps to a reliability standard, that should have been there with the release of the pumps to the public. Still no controller?
Seems to me that their R&D program has run out of money & they took the money of a lot of trusting people.
I hope they get it together for the sake of all those that invested in them. Had they made the product they promised, I would have bought from them. Now I'm waiting with a lot of others to see what happens.

You better recheck yoyr prices here

2,500 GPh = 148 Sterling = $280US
5,000 Gph = 176 Sterling = $335US
10,000 Gph = 199 Sterling = $390US

Then you will have shipping fees etc so the 2 10,000 GPH units to get you to 20,000Gph will cost you closer to $850 US

Now if you would have bought it about a month ago you would have saved about $85 do to the difference in the exchange rates.

I've been keeping mt eyes on these pumps since I first heard about them. They are supposed to be able to run on a closed loop and I believe the big one will push over 20,000 gallons per hour. I found this link from the UK and the prices don't seem to crazy. 100 pounds @ $200 US dollars.

That is interesting I thought Tunze had locked in prices. When I did a web check for the TS24 Ithe first place I found offering it wanted $1,490 for it.

Most companies like SEIO establish US branches so that their products arent as subject to the ups and downs of the exchange rate. This way they can sell the product for a lower MSRP and still make profit... simply keeping the money in a US account until the exchange rate is right.

Also, note that the UK exchange rate has been fluxing wildly in the past few months... from 1.5x the dollar to 2.2x, wet within the country, the actual value of the pound is pretty close to that of the dollar... or about 1.25x. That means alot of buying power for the UK citizens. The SEIOs arent made in the UK though, otherwise as you might expect, the export prices would be insane (the value of the pound has hurt what little industry the UK has left because you cant export anything). The value of the Euro would be a better comparison. I have heard that the small one should go for about $200, and the largest $300. Sure, SEIO wants to make money, but they know that they have to reach a balance in the price to allow for enough demand to make profit.

Look at ATI skimmers and Fauna-Marin T5 lights that are imported. If their prices were a direct result of exchange rate, their prices would be much higher.

Fortunatly they are not being designed by a german company. The project Im working on now was suposed to be released for sale in 2005. But we just got a major design change for the Betta release this week and found 4 new stoppers to the Betta release after they fixed 3 old show stoppers.

I will say though the even the rejected models are 5 steps beyound anything the competition has. It is just that they work at there own pace.

5,000 Gph = 176 Sterling = $233US
10,000 Gph = 199 Sterling = $263US

As of the closing of the markets last night. $1.00 US = .51 British Sterling. At that ration
148 sterling = $290
176 Sterling = $345
199 Sterling = $390

The number your qouiting are with an exchage rate of $1.00 Us = .73 Sterling. That rate is about a week or two old.

I purchased some nano streams and found them to be way below the quality expections of other tunze products. With all new equiptment you have issues to iron out no matter how much R&D and testing you put into the product prior to releasing it to the general public.
