vortechs and vibrations

I've got a pair of mp10s that produce a noticeable / audible vibration when turned up. I've heard other people say the same thing about theirs.

Is the vibration a function of the design, or are the wet and dry sides not lined up well enough? anyone had this problem and fixed it?

Yep, I can hear my MP40 and MP10 pulsing while I sleep upstairs. No one else can hear it but for some odd reason I can.

I think shorting the spacer makes my MP40 louder, do you have the correct spacer width? If MP10s don't have spacers ignore me pls.

Mp10s don't have a spacer unless tank is extra thin. Unlike the 40 we can't adjust for glass thickness either. I don't hear mine on my solana. It might just be how its lined up. When I had my 30 going with two running at a time I did notice a hum, but I had them on short pulse.

I've been around Vortech's through many different systems and I have personally observed that thinner glass tanks have a tendency to "vibrate" more. My old system was 1" thick glass with an MP40w and never had vibration issues. I could imagine smaller systems with thinner glass might have a higher chance of making a vibrating noise. But, I'm no professional...JMO. I'll be getting an MP10ES for my 20L soon so we'll have to see.

I can weirdly hear the purple transport mode 2 when it starts pulsing. But I can also hear my phone vibrate in my bedroom when I am in the basement so I guess it is more of an issue with me instead of a device flaw.

It's not model specific, it's hit or miss. I have 2 MP40s and I can barely hear 1, while the other one is audible from across the room. It has something to do with the motor end because I have swapped wet sides before. The models that you cannot hear as well have a much lower pitch hum and the models that you can hear have a higher pitch to them.

I was only aware of a hum on my MP10es on the 37g, when it was mis-aligned.

My mp-10 has just developed a bad dry side vibration, I have yet to have time to really investigate but I am not optimistic.

IME no vibration with MP40 and MP60 on half inch thick glass if spaced and aligned properly.

That's not to say they aren't audible, but loudness can be subjective. (I have a "noisy" house.)

FWIW my MP40 was amazingly silent for the amount of water it moved.
