I have been dosing vodka since July and I started it because of algae from hell. I dose 3ml a day and my nitrates are 0 and P04 is about 0.03 to 0.01 I also started GFO and that made a big difference in water clarity. I started the thread because I want to learn more about different carbon sources and possibly adopting VSV for my own system. I will say that I started to dose amino acids and this has made a big difference in PE and my colors are stable. I can't really comment on color right now because I am doing a few new things to the tank and can't say that the AA is the direct result of good colors.

Jbanks used this method I'm not sure if his tank is still running but I have to say his PE and Colors where Amazing.

I haven't started dosing AA's just yet. I read some things about anemones, carbon dosing, and aa's that had me concerned. I think I'm going to hold off until my nem has it's full colour back.

I run a zeovit system and my nutrient level isnt quite low enough. I know it was high when i started so i guess its still coming down. You think if i dose vinegar for the next couple months it will be a positive addition?

I was just worried with this S. gigantea since I bought it bleached and even bleached it cost me an arm and a leg. So I googled around I don't have any first hand experience with AA and less then healthy nems as of yet. Although in my old system I did zeo/vodka hybred and used AA and my BTA's took over half the tank.

I've been dosing vinegar now for 3 weeks in my 50 gallon system. I'm dosing about 1cc per day and about to go up. I like doing things slow. So far don't notice alot but time will tell. I also started using carbon yesterday as well as phosban. The tank just looks cleaner.

I am on the 3.5 week of voka dosing plus the mixing of vinegar and kalk for top off with the hope of increasing my SPS corals color. Is it a right way to do?

Until now I've added to the aquarium 0.5 ml/100l vodka and I would like to go to the VSV. Ratio of 300 ml vodka, 50 ml vinegar and 9g sugar. Do you think it will be better than just dosed alone vodka? Thanks.

I just dose plain vinegar. 30 ml a day in a 85 gal system via a brs dosing pump.

Nutrients are as low as I would ever want them. Would prefer if nitrates were higher, and I will probably drop the dose more as time goes on. No3 is about
.75 and po4 is .03
