wanna try regular meetings again?

so i was thinking back to the first days of the (bburg) club, and something that worked really well for us back then was to declare a certain night/place as a regular monthly meeting night. we'd meet at Z, chat for a while, maybe buy a coral or two and split them up, maybe grab some food somewhere, and then anyone who had time would head out to a tank or two or three depending. nothing formal that required planning or arranging. just swing by even if all you have time for is to chat for a few minutes. Another thing that was cool about it was it seemed more inviting for new people, a bit less intimidating than rolling up to a stranger's house.

i don't know how well it would work in roanoke with the greater distances, but for us in bburg, who wants to try a regular bburg meet?


just a stab- 1st wed night of each month, meet at Z at 6:30?
 
Matt i think that is a great idea, for thoes that can make it to the B/B meet at least know when and were. Also great idea to meet at the store for those impulse purchases. I was always envious back in the day of the B/B group because of the great meets and the way you all helped each other out. A great bunch of people.
I will try and make it out as much as I can.
 
I like the Idea, only problem for me is that I can only do it on Saturday or Sunday. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the weekends. :D Michael R

we could rotate between stores or something, do Z, C&P, and UA or something of the form. mix up the locations and all.

I'm in. Any day is basically the same for me as my schedule is extremely unpredictable. That being said I will definitely be there if I don't have to be at the hospital
 
I'm in, sounds like a great suggestion. I think it would help the club as a whole become more active, requiring less planning than a full meet or a crawl, which seem to be less frequent.

wow, seems to be some good interest here. how about a weeknight bburg thing *and* a weekend bburg thing each month? and again, it's about keeping it simple. it's not about trying to get *every* one to *every* meet, just *enough* people to *enough* of the meets to get some excitement going and sustained. with everyone's crazy schedule, i think more small meets are way better than a few big formal meets.

personally, i think some of the coolest times were when i'd show up at Z or UA and there were half-a-dozen peeps from the club who just happened to be there, and we'd end up standing around checking stuff out and chatting for like an hour. that's what i'm thinking about and trying to 'cultivate'....and it's not to replace the current formal meetings we already have, we can and should still do them. this is just something extra and cool.

we could do a bburg 'show-up' 2 of the weeks of the month, and roanoke could get the other 2.

and i think we need to all focus on getting new people involved. gotta get things back to where it was, when we had *50+* people show up some of the big meets.
 
What about a Sunday afternoon thing at UA? There is Little Coochies right there, or Mill Mountain, Bellicinos and Three Litle Pigs right down the road.
 
I'm in, but maybe not this month. I'm having another baby in four weeks. Probably won't be able to come until around March, but I'd be regular then. Any day works for me, so whatever you guys decide is fine.
