Wanting to add a Pipefish?

Hi everyone!

Well, I am thinking of setting up a brand new tank that will be 10g or less, and I've ALWAYS wanted to house a Pipefish and some Sea Horses. However, I'm not sure if 10g is big enough to keep them.

What do y'all think? Is it big enough to keep either of them?

Actually, the only species you could comfortably house in a 10g tank would be Dwarf Seahorses. And I doubt you'd have room for a pipefish after. Check this out for the a breed vs. size of tank chart: http://www.seahorse.org/library/articles/careguide/careguide.pdf

The only pipes that you might find for sale and you could really keep in a 10 gal would be dwarf pugnose pipes (Cosmocampus Hildebrandi).

That being said, you might want to do a search and read up on "mixing SH species" or "mixing Syngnathids". There are some very real concerns/difficulties involved, and a novice keeper should really get used to keeping a single species first, IMHO.
