I am not sure if uprooting is the right word, but long story short.
I got a maxima some time ago, found a great little nook for him where he has been quite happy. Problem is he has outgrown his nook and is begining to cause some potentialy serious problems by moving entire sections of liverock. I fear soon enough I will come home to an unwanted frag fest on his behalf. So my question. Is it possible to remove a clam from a peice of liverock without killing it? The rock he is on would require major major effort to move. I have basicly ruled out trying that. I know it was stupid to put him there but the guys growth really took off. I had no idea he would get so big so fast. In fact I was almost assured that he wouldnt. Not that that changes anything but any help would be appreiciated.
thanks

if you can tip the clam to the side so you can see the byssal threads then take a sharp knife and cut them as far from the clam as you can.

Not really. either way I was able to move him by gently slicing him from the rock this a.m. as of now he is open and out, his foot has nearly reatached and he looks just fine.

Thanks
