Water Blaster HY5000 hose size?

Hi all, I picked up a Water Blaster HY-5000w yesterday. Opened the box and found several adapters for the outlet. I tried to fit a 1 inch and 3/4 inch hose on the barb adapters, but neither work. Is it some type of metric size? There were also a couple of rings that had "British" printed on the side. What hose size will fit? Thanks

The pumps are metric. The adapters are metric on one end and US standard on the other.

To add a bit more...the rings that are stamped "British" are for you to use to plumb in PVC pipe to and from the pump, you glue the PVC into these rings.

I've not used the hose barb fittings, but if memory serves the HY5000 is designed to be fed by 1 1/4" tubing, and the output is 1" tubing.

My waterblaster 5000 is 1 inch right from the union at the pump.( outake ) No adapters nothing.
