Just purchased a bta but he has moved up to the top of the tank just below the water line as i have no sump this gives me a problem when i want to do a water change as the bta will be out of the water anyone got any ideas as to how i can solve this problem ?

Use a credit card or your finger nail to take it off the glass. Slowly push the credit card or your finger nail under a small section under the anemones foot. Then move the card around the outer edge of the foot...it will release as you go. You could try to turn off all power heads. BTAs love current a lot of them will let go of what ever they are attached to and drift till they find current.

BTA will be fine being out of water for the duration of the water change. Even if you move it, chances are that it will find its' way to the same location.

OK thanks i will try to do the water change as quickly as possible and hope it has no adverse effects on the bta

I agree, it should be fine, just set up so WC is smooth and easy/quick, but don't stress like you gotta beat the clock.
I wouldn't try to pry nem up w/ fingernail, one tear on the foot and you could lose your nem.
Powerheads or ice are a better way to remove.
