Water delivery?

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a company that will come out and fill up your tank with salt water? I have an r/o unit but I think it would take weeks to make the 200 gallons that I need. Or other ideas?

Maybe about four days I can make almost 25 gallons in one day from my ro unit. You can try it first on the 1st day how much ro water you can collect maybe then you can decide . It will save lots of money. So if its $1.00 per gallon thats $200.00

My suggestion would be to get a larger RO/DI. With a tank that size you will need to make large quanities of water anyways and would save you money. Just my .02 cents. Best of Luck!

Go to a Jewel or other some grocery store that sells purified water RO (not sure if its DI). In my first few weeks in the hobby I did it with glacier machines that had a TDS of 1-2 PPM. Not perfect, but I think its pretty safe.

If it takes WEEKS to make 200 gallons of water your RO unit is steamy pile of @#$@. Get a new RO unit. This hobby takes patience and dedication, if you don't have that this is not a hobby for you.

Typically, you can just get a higher-rated membrane and flow restrictor for your unit, and you've upgraded. Most units are standard with the amount of pressure they can handle, so it's just a matter of how much water can pass through the unit, combined with the rejection rate of the membrane. I have an old "35 GPD" Kent that has been kicking out about 83 gallons/day of 0 TDS, because I got a 100GPD membrane and matching flow restrictor.

If you are in a huge rush and don't mind spending the $$ PETCO (Deathco) sells packaged purified NSW salt water for $11 for 5 gallons. Old Town Aquarium in Chicago also has Saltwater for like $1.99 a gallon but bring your own containers, Old Town's are expensive!

Take a drive to Lombard. Tropi-Quatics has RODI salt water for $1/gallon. If you want to mix your own salt, plain RODI is only $0.50/gallon.

You need to bring your own containers of course ;-)

I jokingly exaggerated on the time that it would take to make the water. My r/o unit can make 5 gallons in about 1.5-2 hours. I was just wondering if anyone knew a company, for example has a van with a reservoir in the back that they use to fill very large tanks, I've seen this before on the internet. Water cost that wouldn't break the bank but would be faster than me carrying 5G buckets over to the tank. I also thought about just setting the r/o unit up on the top of the tank (board straddling sides) and letting the unit run directly into the tank and have the discharge line go into a floor drain.

you could just buy some 1/4 inch tubing and run the line from where you have the unit currently set up into the tank... I think that is what everyone else does.

you just need to fill it once. just fill it with ro when you can make it, check for leaks then add salt to the tank.

you can also call aquarium stores that do in home or business maintenance and get a price from them to see if making it or buying it makes more sense.

I'm sure many of the LFS have services that would do that. I know Coral Reef & Seaschor would. All for HUGE $$$. Some have it to spend--not me.
This hobby takes patience and dedication, if you don't have that this is not a hobby for you.
Agreed!!!
