Water pressure too high

Hi, I bought an RO filter from purely h20, and it turns out the water pressure needs to be between 40-80 psi for it to operate effectively. But when I measured the pressure of my water, it was 90 psi. How would I go about reducing it? Any help would be appreciated.

90 is fine. If it were over 100 or so I might be concerned, not so much for the RO unit but for my intertior plumbing fixtures. A RO membrane is good up to 200 psi easily but the other components are usually only rated for 125 psi.

Are you sure 90 is fine? In the instruction manual that comes with the RO filter, it says operating pressure: 40-80 psi, and it says that "operating pressure greater than 80 psi will require a pressure reducing valve. Contact the factory for more information." I am just a little worried since this is my first RO filter. Before I just used to use only DI, as the TDS of my tap water is only 10 ppm.

you could always add a valve before the intake to your ro unit to reduce pressure if needed

I was in a similar boat. I have a Typhoon III and my house pressure was 100 PSI. We decided to have a pressure regulator installed near our supply line to protect our pipes. Now the pressure is more like 55 PSI. It has taken some time to get used to it but I know that 100 was way out of line according to the support team where I bought my RO/DI unit.

You should be fine with 90 psi. We've run long-term tests with pressures higher than that with no problems.
