Waterloo Area December Meeting

Bob you could build that rack out of egg crate and coat it in concrete or you could bundle 1/4 pvc tubes together and cover it. I think you have a pretty sweet idea. Give it a week and you will be able to buy one on eBay or maxijetmods.com.... :p

I was thinking about making a live rock cover for my overflowbox....not sure how i would attach it though.

I have even seen people use that spray foam stuff to coat the back of their tanks. That would probably be strong enough too.

I may have to look into that.

So are we doing anything for food? Potluck, pizza????

Anybody found a good recipe to make their diy rock yet? Just curious on getting some ideas on what to use to make some frag discs with.

I have a 5 gal. bucket full of scrap tiles from when I tiled my kitchen floor would those be safe to use in the tank? Also do you think anyone would want frags that are mounted on a piece of tile?

I've got plenty of hamburger, I guess we should just see what the masses think and go from there.......I'd be down for making a few homemade pizzas. We have a pretty good rock mix, I'm not sure how good of plugs it would make.....I'm sure you could make a mold of some sort and mix a lite mix of straight portland and make plugs from that. I've seen alot of people use tile, the bad part is you have to have plenty of space to place the frags after you mount them.....cause the tile has to be big enough to hold the frag down and be large enough to not tip over.

so why does everyone talk about these maxijet powerheads? Is it because they are cheap and easy to mod or because they are realy good powerheads? Just curious because the mod kit is more expensive than the powerhead.

LOL I think it's alittle of both, there pretty cheap, there easy to mod, and you have to try REALLY hard to burn one up.

I've thought about making an MJ-Mod or two for my tank but would like to see one in action first. Unfortunately I can't make the December meeting, but maybe next month. I know the old saying "you can never have too much flow..." but seriously, how much flow would I want in this tank?

As you can see I have a mix of coral. Suggestions?

Ya, everyone seems to be growing really well. Being relatively new to the hobby I just don't know if I hsve everything setup as well as I should...:)

I agree, typically SPS like a ton of flow, all your softies and stuff wont like it that much....ide say leave it alone.

The wife thinks that this is more important right now. Hmmmmmm. I have some questions for ya Waverz...............PM sent

I thought of something else we could probably do if anyones up for it.

I've heard of other clubs making up their own food. Everyone that wants some brings an ingrediant. Cyclopeeze, mysis, fresh shrimp, etc.... throw it all in a blender and WSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHH!!! Fish/coral food. Put it all in baggies throw it in the freezer and everyone gets some!

Anyone up for it?

making food is abit more tricky than that, very messy, and if not done right can usually do more hurt than help
