Wave box for 120

Hello

So I have a new tank, dimensions are 66x24x24
Already have 2 mp40s, can the nano wave box make wave over those two?

Also, over flow is at back left corner, can I place the wave box on the right corner of the tank, facing the overflow 5 feet away, but right against back glass? Would I still be able to see the full wave from the front? It's a rimless tank.

Thanks for your great help all the time.

It will work but I cannot answer for sure on placement, I haven't tried this and it will likely work, but isn't ideal. The MP40's are not an issue. Flow rate is not that direct, it is based on the wave volume times the frequency so until you have it set up and can measure these variables you can't get a flow rate. For a rough idea, you will likely get a wave that is about 1" high, this wave will have a volue of 3.43gallons about and will occur at a roughly .75 second interval so you will have 4800 waves per hour, so about 16464 gph.

Roger, would you say its worth a shot with Nano Wavebox ? or should I just go with the bigger Wavebox for this application and save the hasstle ? :)

I know bigger Wave box wold work 100%, but the extra 4" Id save with smaller one is priceless as well lol

If the large wavebox works, and you know because you have tried it, the nano would work, the wave will be smaller but it will work.

Hello Roger again.

here is a pic of the tank now.

I really want some wave action, so where would you advice I place the Nano wavebox ? to get the most water movement/Wave ?

I was hoping to replace it where the 6105 is, but not sure if that would work !

I could also put it by the overflow box ? pointing towards other end ?

thanks :)

if anyone else has an Idea let me know please :) the MP40s make a 0.5"wave. and the 6105 is on full blast 24/7. currently. I want to put the MP40s on reef crest nd get a wave box for the wave, hoping for more than 1" wave.[so I dont have to get ppl to pay attention to see the wave :P haha

If you could move the 6105 to the other side, that back corner with the wavebox outlet facing the front is aesthetically ideal, the wave will be more diagonal, corner to corner than straight across but it is a better looking install.

For optimum performance it would be placed toward the front on either side facing down the length of the tank. The overflow will reduce wave height, I would expect 3/4-1" with no mods but damning the overflow up to the same water level as the tank or just a hair below with a Durso or Stockman mod will increase the wave, less energy is lost to the spill over.

so you mean like this ?

wont effect/block the flow of MP40 ?

also, if I get it correctly, you mean set up like this, will give me 1" wave ... 66" away from the wave box by the overflow box on the other side?! hmmm that's hard to imagine lol but if you think it will I will give it a try.

cant bring the pipes or durso higher than this ... as it would stop my surface skimming. good point though on the splash taking energy away [guesssing the wave wont be able to hit something and go back ..]

You might be surprised, the surface skimming still occurs even if it is just shy of level, say a 1/8" drop. It is less vigorous, but with so much flow, it is less important, you won't have a distinct surface strata.

That was the position I had in mind, I don't expect the MP-40 to have much impact.

oh interesting ! I do have extra pipes and everything so will try it :)

thank you for your help Rogers :)
