Wave Box Sizing

Rodger,
I am setting up a new SPS tank. It is a 65 gallon with center back overflow. Two returns coming up over flow and out in each rear corner of tank or corners of center overflow box. My choice!
Tank dimensions are 32 length x 18 width x 24 height. I have read either box will work.
Which would you recommend and why? The Nano, or the full size wave box?

Thank you

Nano, you likely won't see a bigger wave with the bigger wavebox, in general a 120 is the size where the full size will be slightly stronger and make a bigger wave, but on smaller tanks, the length and timing of the wave reduce the height that is achievable and you won't see any gain from the bigger unit, only more space taken up.

Roger,
Thanks for the reply. That's great to know! Ok, I made a mistake! My tank is 36 inches long Roger. Not 32. Would that make a difference in your decision at all??
Also, please see my thread "Tunze Wave Box" in the "Lighting, Filtration and other equipment" section. I WOULD LOVE YOUR INPUT ROGER SO I CAN MAKE MY DECISION. IF YOU ARE ALLOWED TO DO SO!
So even for a 36 inch long you would still recommend the nano! Great honest onfo! I love it.
Thank you

Roger,
How can I tell the newer model nano wave vs. the older model? What mod's where done to the pump?

Thank you

The disk was upgraded to include a sort of shock absorber that eliminates the click, this is inside the pump, under the drive unit, at the base of the shaft, part 6055.740 replaced 6025.740 on 6055 and 6206. The change occurred last year in October so if you are buying a new one, it should be a non issue. The older 6091 controller was replaced by the 7092 this June and that was the last change. Besides that there was a cosmetic change from white propeller to blue propeller that also occurred last October.

I can say we have a nano wavebox running on a 40 breeder (same footprint) and I cannot imagine any need or anyone wanting a bigger wave than it can produce. You should be quite happy with the nano.

Hi Roger I have a 75gal with a nano wave box facing front too back on one side of tank I'm very happy with it !! It seems to work better closer to surface is that true or am I just seeing the wave better on surface?? Also was thinking of adding a 2nd nano wave box to other side because I have ton of sps when it grows there will be dead spots!! What do u think 1 or 2
Btw also have 3 other power heads in tank !!

If the top 3/4" of the box is above the water, it will work the best, this allows it to take in air and displace water which greatly boosts the effect.

I would just use one, be sure you are getting the full effect, besides having the top stick out of the water, be sure the power supply is at 24V, lower voltage = shorter wave.

Sorry I missed your post.
