Wavebox 6212 on 90 gallon tank?

Hi there,

I recently bought a Wavebox 6212. I have a left corner internal overflow box, and I have the Wavebox positioned on the left side in front of the overflow box. The overflow box isn't actually running right now (waiting for plumbing pieces to hook up the sump). It is a Herbie style overflow.

My tank is currently LPS dominant, but I am starting a collection of SPS as well.

I have the pump flow turned down as low as it will go, and the pulse rate is quite fast. I am having a couple troubles. One is that I either have tsunami waves (1 1/2" at each end) or nothing at all. Having these large waves makes the bottom of the wave peek out from the trim and doesn't look nice. Is there any way around that? Should I be able to get a wave that is inbetween 1 1/2" and nothing?

My second trouble is that the pump is very turbulent in my relatively small tank. All corals within 12" of the Wavebox are getting blasted quite hard. Even my SPS that are 6-8" away from the Wavebox are not showing full polyp extension (except the Mille, which loves it haha). Someone suggested I try using the Tunze 15V adapter instead of the 24V adapter. Is that a Tunze recommended action?

If all else fails, a friend of mine has a Wavebox Nano on his 120 gallon tank, and wants to upgrade to the 6212. We could trade Waveboxes so that I have the Nano. What do you recommend?

Thanks for any help!
Mindy

Here is a photo of the tank so you can see the rock structure. If you would like I can take a picture with the Wavebox in the tank. Or a short video clip to show what I am talking about. Let me know if you want more visuals. :)

The Nano Wavebox is probably your best solution but despite the look of the wave, 1.5" would provide great flow. You could try 15V but I think the Nano Wavebox will work better. The corals will adapt but it is important that they be secured in place so they cannot fall down.

Ok, thank you Mr Vitko. I will let it be for a week or so, and see how the corals adapt. If they don't adapt too well I will trade my friend for his Wavebox Nano.

My friend and I are not able to come to an agreement on trading the Waveboxes since he paid too much for his Nano. Argh!

My corals are not adapting to the current of the Wavebox yet, so I am concerned. Maybe they need more time?

If it comes down to it, how can I order couple of the little breakers that slide in the slot? I'm assuming this is how you change the voltage? It says on the back "5-24V 50W MAX SELECT BY A CHANGABLE SLOT". Maybe I can get a few different voltages, and slowly increase as my corals adapt.

The 15V one is the one I would try, it is part 6101.241, I would ask your dealer. What type of corals do you have?
