Hi
Finally recieved my wavebox from the LFS and these are my first impressions.
Excitement at opening the box and pulling out the unit soon turned to dissapointment, when first i found that the protective grating on the 6260.10 was broken(mabey some better packing methods as this was lacking too.
Not letting this get me down(easy superglue fix) I proceeded to thoroughly read the manual to make sure i do things right. A quick inventory check revealed that i was missing the photo electric cell
Another bummer.
I also understand that these products may change hands many times before they get to me, but ultimatly it reflects back on the product.
Further on in the manual it says that you'll also need a magnet mounting kit for tanks with glass lids, Please correct me if i am wrong but most tanks over 100gal come with side bracing. For $650 a pop i would have expected magnets, but this is my fault for not researching enough.
Included in the box was a bit of paper saying that older models of drives have not been fitted with an O ring seal, while i commend them for addressing a problem for $650 i would like a unit assembled, Plus no-one likes to be told they might have an older model pump when the've just bought it( I'm not flaming or trying to attack tunze, these are just my first impressions for buyers looking to buy)
The power plug is also a 2 prong end requiring an adaptor for australian outlets(voltage is correct)
The 6091 wave controller is fairly well made, but again for $650 i would have expected more metal less plastic.
The actual box that houses the 6260.10 is well made(no china in sight) although snapping the bottom on when the 6260.10 is housed is a little flimsy for my likeing.
The 7240.27 driver is very nice, the circuit work is Undoubtably excellent german work. The plugs line up nicely too( not 100% with the 6091).
I'm yet to Put the unit in a tank as it's still bieng built but i look foward to testing this.
I shall Post some nice video's of a bare tank with the box in action, will also add some form of flow indicators to show movement in the tank as well as the wave.
Sofar i'm happy with the unit and am expecting some good results in the tank.
Please forgive me if things in the post might be incorrect, i'm just posting as some-one new to Marine.
Cheers
Zim
