Wavebox is more trouble then its worth

Dont get me wrong it provides my tank with great water motion, the SPS polyps float up and down....when it works!

For the two months or less that it has been on the tank it has had the alarm on more then not. I took the thing apart cleaned it though out. Cleaned all the deposits off the impeller, ect.

One week later... I wake up last night to the beeping again. It is constantly doing this, seems like a real pain to keep thins thing functioning normally.

I have had 2 now for over 2 years and never a problem. The only trouble word I have is troublefree. With all Tunzee products support is the best, I'm sure you will get help.

Please check the stickied thread on alarms. I think it either has some damage or it is not thoroughly clean. Usually the culprit is the upper bearing.

Why, I am frustrated. I have other Tunze products and love them. I am not here bashing Tunze and stated I loved the product when it was working for me. The swaying motion is hard to replicate with out it.

I will again take it apart and soak in the partial vinegar solution.

2crazyreefers how often do you have to cleam yours?

Just be sure you get the upper bearing clean and the hole in the center of the magnet, these are the most overlooked and the usual culprits.

Also FWIW, I just took the thing apart again and am seeing a cleam pump with no deposits. I took the whole thing apart as shown in the second pictures of the drive untis. I put it back together and back on the tank and its running fine again. Hopefully it last.

Keep me posted, whatever the problem we can resolve it but no, the alarm should not go off every few weeks.

I clean mine aprox. every 3 months. It is nice that I have 2 since I only run 1 in the tank I get to swap them out for cleaning. That is until I set up another 6 foot tank.

NewbieForever, i have a few question for you.

1. How old is your wavebox?

2. How often do you clean your wavebox?

3. Where did you put your driver/transformer?

4. How do you clean your pump?

5. Have you ever try to take your pump apart? How about the Impeller?

6. Do you have the old or new model pump?

Before you starting to spazzing out, ask yourself this question. Have i read the user manual word for word? Have i done everything that recommended by tunze to clean my pump? I have own every pump that tunze made, except the tunze electronic pump.... If you need any help, feel free to hit me up Via PM or Phone call. I will be more than happy to help.

What is the level of alkalinity in your tank. I suspect you are running very high, thus the constant buildup of deposits on the warm impeller.

No the Alk isnt very high 3.0-3.5 meg/l and CA in the 400 range.

In anycase there isnt signifigant build up on the impeller or the housing.

The unit was brand new from PA right before Xmas. I bought a vortech at the same time and it hasnt had any issues. I have many pumps in the tank and none are having issues. The units are all cleaned as needed with a partial vinager solution.

Newbie, i don't think you answer all my question.... If you are not willing to answer or be more specific, we can't help ....
