Wavebox questions?

Hello,
I purchased a used wavebox, but in excellent condition. I have two questions that might help me adjust the pulse, because all I am able to achieve on my 180 (6'X2'X2') is not quite a wave, but a sway back and forth. I've taken my time adjusting the pulse and have done it in very small increments. I've also checked that the is running at full power.

I only have one magnet holding it in the tank, will this affect the performance? The bottom of the box rocks about 1/4" away from the glass when the pump kicks on.

With the above in mind, the pump is making a surging sound when it's pushes the water out of the box. I've searched through previous posts and have verified that all the pumps internal parts are installed correctly.

Thanks,

Carlos

There will be some surging noise. The rocking will affect wave height and I would take care of that as long term the wavebox will move or break free. It is critical that the wavebox have a fairly unobstructed shot down the length of the tank and the ideal tuning will give you one wave, like a see saw, it will crest on one side with the trough on the other, the center point or fulcrum will be relatively unchanged in height. Depending on the position of the overflow boxes a waveheight of 1-1.5" should be possible.

Roger,
Thank you for the reply. The box doesn't have any obstructions from one end to the other. I am going to purchase the tunze magnets to see if that will improve the wave, right now I am only able to get a wave of about 1/4". I've heard from someone else that has a wavebox that I can purchase one magnet, place it on
the lower half of the box and it will stay without any problems. Do you think one magnet is sufficient?

Thanks,
Carlos
