Wavebox waves getting smaller.

Hi there,

My 2 year old wavebox stopped working on me so I took it apart and did the vinegar/water cleaning routine. I put it back in and it worked better then ever for about 1 week. I had a good 1 inch wave. Now it's performance has diminished to the point that the waves are about only 1/4-1/2 inch high on my 6 foot 120 gallon long tank. The photo cell is not working properly as well but I think that it could be faulty. It does not matter if I turn the power up fully or not. Should I try a re-cleaning, or is there a part that needs to be replaced? Anything I can do to help diagnose the problem any better?

Cheers,
Justin

A common problem is people reassemble them so the blue sponge is over the intake, it is not a filter, it is only there to hold the pump from moving and vibrating against the hard surface of the box. As the sponge clogs, the wave shrinks, move it to the back of the pump if this is the cause.

Thanks gentelmen. Roger it was the foam obstructing the intake. I pulled it all the back and it works like new again. I must have thought of it as a prefilter while reassembling.
My reef now has waves again!:)
Cheers!
