waveboxes stop working with y adapter

Hello all,
Can you please tell me why I cannot connect 4 waveboxes (6212.50) using y-adapter (7092-34), the boxes functioning as two pair master and slave with there respective controllers work fine, but when I try and connect all 4 via a y adapter with a single controller the pulsing stops and the controller light stays on green all the time, I am absolutely positive I am connecting the units up correctly as shown in the user manual but am completely stuck at this point.

Make sure the power is off before you make the connections, make sure all plugs are fully inserted. otherwise I would suspect the y adapter is faulty or damaged.

I will double check the connections and try a second y adapter also.
Will let you know what happens.
