Wavemaker

It will work but honestly not well enough to justify the expense. I would look into something else. The wave will be very short and fast moving.

What do you plan to keep? What type of corals will you focus on and will you have a sand bed?

Hi -- At the moment my plan is to have a "gulf"tank. My rock came from Richard at Tampa Bay Saltwater so I have a couple of hard corals, Oculina and Lesser Star, and then some soft -- gorgonians. I have a 3 inch sand bed. It is all low light -- the rest is yet to be determined. Is that specific enough?

In that case I would suggest 2 6045 Nano Streams or 2 6055 if you want a controllable pump. Neither is readily availble, only a few 6045 have come in and the 6055 won't be out for a couple more months. The 6000 is another option, you could use one pump.

How do these options improve the flow over the seios that I now have? What would make them better options?

They will use much less electricity and add less heat. They also are smaller and should be more durable.

I am not as worried about electricity or heat. The issues I have are dead spots in my tank and an inability to control the power of the flow. I am not sure exactly how to position pumps or nozzles to design something that replicate real reef flow. I have been reading but I guess I need to keep reading.
