Way OT: "WTB GIXXER!"

Now when you get your bike and you wanna learn how to do this down the freeway give me a call:
:D

Honestly, everyone has a type of riding that they like to do, some like canyon carving, some like touring, and some like me, it's never the same again since I stopped stunting. I say get what suits you best. a sportbike is only fun if you use it more aggressively, if you wanna just cruise around on it, it's kinda of a PITA imho since it's not the most comfortable cruising around machine.

I've been down the cruiser road. I want something more responsive and agile. I'm thinking the 750 gixxer sounds jussst right. Certainly don't need no 'busa and stunts never appealled to me.

jthao....thats awesome man, I'd like to learn the stunting thing....just not out on the streets. I dont want to be that guy that hurt some innocent people, would rather do it in a parking lot. I also wouldnt want to drop my current bike....

Canyon carving isnt for everyone, I like the slower sweeping turns and would love to be able to ride the twisties fast but ive never had the proper gear or people to ride with that have the experience...

Sounds like we could get a pretty good MARS group ride goin one of these days....hit up the hills then down to a few reef shops! ha ha lets get that goin!

Yeah, I stopped stunting cuss I bought my gsxr1000 and didn't wanna drop it, that picture is when I used to stunt on my R1. Usually 99.99% of the time, when you stunt on the streets and do wreck, you're hurting yourself more than anyone else. I usually went with my buddies to the back of warehouses and stunted there because the ticket was ridiculous when caught on the streets.

I agree that we should all meet up and ride one of these days. It might be a cool idea to all meet up somewhere and cruise the fish stores on our bikes.:D

Kevin: you interested in a 2005 gsxr1000 with 5K miles? It has a few upgrades as well, this bike was never stunted, it was however semi-built for track days, but I've never been. I might consider selling if the price is right. If you're between 5'5" and 5'9" and weigh 150-190, then I have all gear for track day also.

jthao: Hmmm... I'm thinkin' the 1k might be overkill for me. Also, I've got an agreed budget and it's looking like the prices I'm seeing fit the 750 class more than the liter bikes. Shoot me a pm.

Don't do it old man! For one, normal bikes are death traps. A crotch rocket is even worse. I'm stupid enough to ride a BMW K1200LT, only because it weights 900lbs and I figure it's a little more of a fair fight as long as I go up against a go-kart.... still no match against a deer. We've done the math...with the service intervals and other associated cost, it's cheaper to drive the truck. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen run out on paper. If you have to have one...I'd suggest a sport tourer..not exactly a rolling couch like a gold wing, and you can still get your lean on in the twisties. I'd suggest the K1200RT. It's the best Sport tourer out there. My buddy just turned over 130K on one last month (defying the odds). Just say no to the GIXXER. I know it sounds cool ands cheaper than a Vette, but think about the young'ins growing up without a daddy.

Disclaimer.... Please don't start hate'in because I say bikes are dangerous. I love to ride, but it doesn't make it safe. I ride 1000 miles a day, many times a year and state to state all year round...it still isn't safe. No way around it. I lump it into the same category as skydiving, rock climbing and diving into the shallow end of the pool. It's a rush, but there's risks involved.

I hear ya Wayne. I had a serious crash when I was 17 so I know the risk firsthand. But bikes have been part of my life, as they are part of yours. What's a guy gonna do? Can't think away love and can't fix stupid.

OK....so as GXR? I think it's in the water. My 50 Yr old neighbor just bought a beautiful black one. Like I said before...It's cheaper than a Vette, but that's because there's no Airbag.

If I had ANY sense I wouldn't have a reef in my living room. The gixxer seemed to be a great combo of feedback, agility, snap, mileage, weight, mod-ability, safety, engineering, whatever and the 750 seemed to be a great displacement based on my wants and experience.

I know it's not the safest thing, but hey I have 20+yrs of experience and 200g of barely tolerated saltwater itching to flood my house on a 'round the clock basis. I feed on danger. Why live if not for some thrill?

Based on that truck I saw you drivin' I took you for a Polaris ATV kinda guy......heehehehe.

Im like you, got my first bike at 9 years old......and goind to be 32 at the end of the month........gotta take of my shoes to figure out that one.....

Its not so much me being a Squid (Squirelly Kid) nowadays, it s the other people around here driven around......man!!!

Though I lean toward the Harley side of things, a R6 (R1 in your case), is one I wouldn't mind......or a Ducati Monster......but they are all about the same nowadays and competition is tight.

What sucks even more, is that even though I "lean" towards Harley, most are ugly as sin stock and hate thier frames. I was excited about the new Rocker, but it looks like someone cut off the tail of another bike and scabbed on the swing arm....too bad.

I really dig bobbers and drag bikes, and think the Central Coast Cycles Gasser bike it pretty much it.....I would love to get this frame and build one myself. The best of both I think!!

And while loooking for some Covington cycles pictures, which I LOVE the frames on his bikes, I stumbled on to one of the more infamous Harleys.....

10 points if you know what it is,

There is a six minute video of it on Youtube, which I am SOOOOOO glad to have found. This is pretty much the coolest intro I have ever seen!!!! But the cool ends at the intro......

Kevin, whats up with the Big Bore? Lets see a pic, I need a toy.....or else I am going to start building a cube tank!!!

that's my older brother's bike, he might sell it if he gets a good enough offer. Some one offered him $20K when he first bought it (2006), but he didn't wanna sell it, but he's had it a couple of years now and i think he's getting tired of it. I think it's an 05/06 gsxr1000, has like really low miles cuss he never rides it.

Little too flashy for my taste.....I wouldn't mind having one of those rockets one of these days.....but its going to be a 600 plain jane to play with.

Figure out the other Harley?

Thats not an fxr without the back springs isit?

Yep, the shocks were removed to lower it 2 inches, the seat to keep you even lower is just a formed piece with some fabric on it if I remember.

Smoooooooooth rider eh?

Been wanting to get something 'cause I feel the "40ish" itch. Can't afford the sports car that I want. Never ridden in my life....was going to take the class. Wife said as long as the life insurance goes up, do what you want. Really appreciate your honesty and good sense, WP. Might not be the best thing for a newbie. Sorry to hijack, Kev. Still real jealous you're getting one!

What about a Honda CBR 1100. I like hondas, dont have a street bike tho. Just dirt, I have a Cr 85r. want to upgrade that to a 125 tho.

i think you'll be very happy with a gsxr750. but honestly, I'd rather get a newer gsxr1000, the one with modes A,B,C. you can do a lot with that if you know how to work it. I've never been on it, but I've heard the modes are like a power limiter thing. A is like full power, B is like 75%, and C is like 60%, which is equal to a=1000cc, b=750cc, c=600cc. I'm not 100% sure on how it works though.
