Wayne's 600 Gallon Build

Since my 225 is my growing tank, I thought I'd try some chalices. So far I can only keep a couple. I got this one from a fellow reefer.

I think he called this a watermelon or reverse watermelon chalice.

I got this one a year ago and don't know the name.

Overflow - UPDATE

Overflow - UPDATE

When I first got the tank I redid(redrilled) the center overflow in hoping to do a Bean Animal type overflow. Well when I placed the bulkheads in and leak tested, I drilled the 2 inch bulkheads a little big and I had leaks. Since I had extra acrylic I cut a piece to the inside measurements of the overflow.

This is a pic of the inside of the overflow.

I took Weldon 16 and traced the outside holes of the 2 inch drains and 1 inch returns.

It doesn't look like it but I placed the new acrylic inside.

And I placed concrete blocks to help seal the piece.

Later tonight or tomorrow I will Weldon 16 the outside edge and let it cure.

I did something wrong. Here are the pics again. Sorry

The Room for the Fish Tank

The Room for the Fish Tank

This is the room I will be putting the fish tank in. The measurements are approximately 16ft long by 11ft wide.

The computer desk is going out and a smaller desk will be used. I don't know if I should keep the QT tank in the same corner or move it to the other side. I am thinking I should considering thats where the computer lines originate from. The Black tub is my ATO for my other tank and it will be gone also since it will be under the tank.

I will take up the flooring and replace with some type of waterproof tile or the new harder vinyl. Put in the new stand and then the rest is history.

Here are the pictures of the tank.

Here is a diagram of the water flow I will be using on my tank. Opinions and suggestions appreciated.

I have my returns directly in my tank doesn't really push a lot of water but with only my 2 vortechs I cant even turn them up and even tho your tank is center drilled it would just whip right around and if you were to set them up another sync it would creation a nice back and forth effect thru out the tank

Maybe I can add educators to the ends of the sea swirls.

Length of Drain Pipes

Length of Drain Pipes

The center overflow of my tank is 20 1/4 inches tall. Since I will be having two 2 inch drains, I was wondering what should the lengths of the pipes be? Should they both be the same or one longer than the other? Advice is greatly appreciated.

I'm having a 110 gallon low-iron rimless (48x24x22) built by ReefSavvy and I have my entire sump system being built by lifereef. I will probably starting the thread as soon as I start getting pictures from Felix over at ReefSavvy sometime in August. I'm not really a do it yourself type of guy. I guess I'm kind of a perfectionist and if I know I can't get it perfect I'm going to pay someone to get it as close to perfect as possible for me. However in the mean time, I look forward to seeing more pictures of your monstrous tank coming together.

Rimless is sexy. I wanted to do one with the same dimensions but it had to be made out of 2 inch acrylic. Not even gonna tease you on the price.

Re drilled the acrylic for the bulkheads and...........voila no leaks. I am going to keep the water in there a couple days for monitoring.

Tank Build on Hold

Tank Build on Hold

My best reefing friends mom died this morning. When I was going through a low point around this time last year when my younger sister suddenly passed away, she was there for me and took care of my tank for the month that I was gone. So I will be putting my build on pause and be there for here in her time of need as she was for me. I am sorry and will get back to the build as soon as I can. Thank you all.

Wayne
