One of Coralreefecosystem's customers wants to donate their 96x36x25 375 gallon glass aquarium. Steinhart aquarium will be coming up on the 28th to take most of the livestock. The sand bed, powder blue tang and 3 yellows tangs as well as the aquarium and all equipment will be left for the club. The club should be able to sell it for 3-5K. If the club can handle it we need to let them know. It's heavy and will require about a dozen guys to move. It needs to be taken within a week after the 28th and someone may want to go over on the 28th to get any livestock the aquarium will be leaving behind.

The question is: do you think we can handle this large aquarium? and are you willing to commit to helping out? We need to hear from you right away because we have to make a decision quickly. Please only post if you are serious and is willing to help. TIA

If someone wanting to buy this tank, please PM me.

Here is the tank

Tom, I'm unclear what you mean by "do you think we can handle this large aquarium". I'm sure we can get enough people to help move it. Are you looking for a place to store it? If it is located nearby, I can help lift it, but I don't have a vehicle that can transport it, or a place to store it. I can do it anytime before 5PM and after 7:30PM, again depending on how far away it is.

BTW: The dimensions on that thing are sweet.

I can help lift it, where is the tank located? I can take some corals too and a tang or two if they are homeless or become permeate residence. I can keep them in my sump for a short time if need be. What time too?

I could also help. Just need a date and time. We might need a flatbed truck or rent a uhaul. Longest beds on pickups are 8 feet I guess we could leave the tail gate down and tie it in but I don't know how you would feel about that. Also is it glass or plexi?

Thanks guys for your enthusiasm but at this rate I don't think we will have enough people. If we have a bit more time maybe we can swing it but I think it is going to be too much for our club to handle with such short notice. People are busy this time of year due to vacation and other commitments. Plus we just don't have enough active club members.

Steinhart has rescheduled for July 5th so we would have longer to get things in order. I have a long bed truck with airbags and would be willing to help however I can't do any lifting of the aquarium because of a bad back. We could hire a few day workers if we are short handed on muscle. I'm pretty sure I can get the owners to have it sit for a few weeks if we commit to picking it up.

If I understand correctly the job entails moving the empty tank and equipment somewhere in some type of vehicle and then unloading at the other end, wherever that is.

I can help with that.

Just wondering how much do you think the tank weights?

I've got a few gym buddies that could handle it pretty easy. Where are we taking it?

I move my 180 bow with just one other guy. I think it was around 300. Even if it weights 600 it think 5 or 6 guys could take it. Just eat your protein that moving and as Arnold says "Don't be a baby".

If you need some motivation to lift just go to youtube type in Ronnie Coleman and listen to the 6'4 310lb 5% body fat, in a very high pitch voice like Mike Tyson yell "light weight" when he squats 1000lbs.

Also we can use a long bed truck, put 1" ply wood down, or thicker, then set the tank on that even if it hangs off the tailgate a bit the ply wood will cover the weight.

Is the club getting all the proceeds from the transfer? WE should be trying to sell it right now and then we just have to help with one transfer not 2.

BTW- On Wednesday I just got into the 500lb club....500lb squat and 500lb deadlift ! =) That's 5 plates and a 5lb each side

Well,

I am counting 8 people so far and we got two trucks so that is good. Now I just need to find a place to store the tank. I think we have a place but I need to confirm.

I think after Aquarium pick up the live stock, we still have to empty out the tank, take the rest of the live stock left behind, rocks, sand, undo the plumbing, electrical, equipment, and then move the tank. Not only trucks, we will also need containers for the rocks. This will take about 4 hours if we do it right.

The proceed from the sale of this tank will go to the club so this is totally worth it. Let's put our head together and try to make this happen shall we?

Thanks everyone for your help. The problem is I can not find a place to store it. This tank will take a while to sell and whoever storing this thing is going to stuck with it for a long while. Unless some one want to store it with the understanding that they might have to be stuck with it for a while this deal is off. I don't have any other idea, so if someone want to take this on and take the lead, please go right ahead.

If I'm around I can help... :uhoh2:

I don't have a date of departure yet, but apparently I'm supposed to go work on a project down in Oakland, so I may be out of town.
