left my rodi on today for 4 hours while i went to my sisters baby shower and came back to water all over the carpet and the bottom of the stand holding water....
we were heading up to rainforest as well to grab some food and check out the fish . i suddenly remebered i left the water on...
my resevoir only holds ten gallons.

we hi tailed it back on I4 just knowing the house was flooded.
we were happy we had a carpet cleaner.
my fish food containers were floating in the water that was held underneith the canopy

been there done that!! usually forget its on when i go to bed!

cant tell you how many times now i go and ck it before i can finally go to sleep.

GET THE FLOAT SWITCH. have john order them . he gets them cheaper and it's the exact piece spectra pure sells. I mean the shut off valve. if it's for fresh water tell him the same place he gets his filters from has them pretty cheap. you don't have to have a kent and pay out your butt. I have been using the one john can get in my saltwater mixing barell and there is no corrosion of any kind. might be stainless. I have been using it this way for over a year.

oh yeah I forgot. I left mine on for over 24 hours. try 50-75 gallons on your carpet. see what women will do to you? ;) kidding

I let my RODI fill a 15-gal plastic trash can resevoir in my garage, with 1/4" tubing from a tiny 8gpm pump in the reservoir, to fill up to my sump, controlled with a float switch. Works great. Easy to install. I put it on a stand with a ball valve on the bttom to fill 5 gallon jugs with. I hate the flooding too...thank goodness for tile floors

I still do it to this day in the garage. This is what I did when I lived in an apartment. Run tubing long enough to reach you tup or sink and just fill up you container there. If it over flows you do not have to worry about anything.

I HAVE A CONDO I STILL DO IT THAT WAY. I'M USING MY 210GAL FISH TANK TO DO MY WATER CHANGERS TILL I SELL, IT TAKES ME LIKE 3 DAYS NON STOP TO MAKE ENOUGH WATER.

Yep sign me up for that mistake as well..... installed one of these the next day....

I know your pain....lol... Once I turn on the RO/DI, I somehow lose all ability to think... Common sense would tell you to set a timer of some sorts, but I forget, only to wake up with my kitchen flooded. I guess you have to clean your floors at least once per week.....

A few months ago I spilled about 10 gallons onto my garage floor. I didn't notice until I stepped in the water and my feet slipped out from under me. I flew into the corner of my table saw and ended up getting 10 stitches in my chin. You would think I learned my lesson but I spilled about a gallon just the other day.

i set my timer just left 5 minutes prior to it turning off.
i imagine the fish were screaming hey turn the water off.
of course im down the road. ive thought about getting a float switch. then again whats the purpose of the osmolator :)
