Well, I'm bummed, new fish jump after 2 days...

Went to Fish Frenzy in Temecula on Saturday and picked up a diamond goby. Went to check out the tank this morning and I find the diamond goby dried up like fish jerky next to my tank. What a waste and bummer...I have an open-top, but I always have a net cover over it. The goby had pinpoint accuracy to make it through one of the tiny holes in the cover. It's not the first fish that I've had jump, but this is the fastest that I've had one jump. I shoulda just saved a trip to the fish store and flushed my money down the toilet instead lol.:sad1:

So sorry to hear that. I had the exact same problem with the exact same fish. They are skiddish and get freaked out enough to jump.

Min jumps in to my overflow box every time I pick him out.. I just leave him there now... probably 6 months this time

Diamond gobies tend to jump when they get scared or stressed. Get a bullet goby. They are less likely to jump and they do a great job sand sifting.

Thanks all. I was just surprised at how accurate the little sucker was. It wasn't the smallest goby or the biggest hole he made it through. It was kind of impressive, but still a bummer. Such a shame.

I lost a jaw fish shortly after getting it. It managed to find the only 1.75" hole on the top of my 96X24' 300 gallon tank that the wiring for my Tunze's feeds thru. I since made acrylic plugs kind of like the ones where wires go thru a desk.
