Well my Clowns finally began to host!

Picture worked like a charm. I want to give you credit because I used your pictures. My clown began hosting within an hour. The only thing that sucks is that he began hosting the gsp instead of the anemone.

i think its all hit /miss. I think it can work but IMO depends on if they are tank bred or w.c clowns, thats a huge difference in my opinion. tank bred clowns seem to take forever to try to find a nem, pic or not. I tried the pic for weeks with no luck, i also have a bta and a crispa and my clowns could care less. They were hosting two peices of purple cap i moved the cap and put the bta there, they still dont care.

but i havent lost hope! i just think they are very young clowns

Age might have something to do with it but I just think it is up to the clownfish. I have a pair of CB Percs that were about 2 yrs. old before I introduced an anemone. They were hosting before the anemone had it's foot completely attached after introduction.

getting clowns to host is just luck! there are many different theories out there as to get them to host them. Best thing to do is just wait and hope

bubble tips get pretty big... im sure they will out grow my tank and some point. my tank is a custom 25 cube with a 4-bulb t-5 fixture. i feed them silversides about once a week.

Feeding will help your BTA's grow quicker. If that's something you want - then go for it. If you are trying to control their size a little better, they are photosynthetic and don't actually need to be fed.

Also, many here on the boards have had otherwise healthy anemones die after feeding whole silversides. In addition to them just being too big for healthy digestion, there has been some speculation to the quality.

IMO, if you want to feed, it's best to feed a mix of blended meaty foods that you would also feed your fish. It's pretty easy to chop up some clams, fish, squid, etc. and freed in a ziploc

I deffently don't feed whole silversides. I take one and cut it into about 8ths and feed each nem 1 of those tiny pieces. I've heard clowns will feed them as well but I am yet to see this happen. So I don't feed them alot but I do alittle.
