Well, I took the water samples to a lab and had them tested. Here are the results:

Test ( Maximum)
ph- 7.58 ( 6.5 to 8.5)
Iron <0.01 ( <0.3)
Nitrates 0 ( 0)
Nitrites 0 (0)
Sulfate- 202 (250)
Chloride-333 (250):eek2:
Total Hardness-291
Color- 37.7 (15):eek2:
TDS-1700 (500):eek2:

Luckly there was no bacteria. They thought a water softner might help. This is after the water softner. Time to find a full house water treatment. So wonder the RO/DI can't handle my water. They couldn't figure out why the chloride is so high because I don't live on the gulf and I'm on a fresh water canal. Maybe because the softner has to work over time? I go through salt quickly.
:(

You might want to post that in the chemistry forum and ask for recommendations . I suspect the chloride and tds measurements are related.

with a TDS of 1700, you have saltwater/brackish water intruision.
I'm not sure if a greensand filter will work for you with saltwater ... but i ended up picking up a whole house RO because i have the same problem... my TDS was right around 1700-1900 as well.
If it is salt ... then your water softener will NOT work properly - since it cleans itself with salt .. and you have salt in the water, it goes in cycles .. no good.

I'm in San Carlos park - South Fort Myers ... almost Estero where FGCU is - not near the gulf ...

if you choose to go the whole House RO way - check these guys out.

thats whom i purchased my whole house RO from - my TDS is now @ about 22.
I purchased the CWP100 w/ the 330g storage tank. this comes with EVERYTHING you need - including the pump to feed the house from the water storage tank.
