Wells and septic systems

hoest for a water change it may be ok if you used the plastic ones i would not personally but that may be more of what I have seen them look like than actual problems I would be sure to clean the heck out of it at least as they are not meant for clean water so I am sure they arent exactly made clean and might leach some oil or something into the water

Gotcha',
I just meant for discharging old saltwater as an alternative for septic systems.I was just trying to contribute to the thread,Im on public sewer,so it was just in wonderment<----if thats a word. LoL.
Thanks for your time.-Steve

so you mean not in direct contact with your tank like putting a hose into a sump crock that would be fine I would think if you could se the crap sump pumps push I cant see why salt would hurt it I would just maybe dump a little fresh water though it after to keep the salt water from ruining the check valve or any rubber couplings (unless your house is like mine where it runs every ten mins then who cased haha)

Ah, ok that makes sense.I was just looking at the problems associating salt with check /foot -valves and that ,realistically holding the prime without becomes the issue if omitted (c/f valve )

But I see what your getting at now.If I followed you, running fresh water through it after the saltwater would keep the salt from doing any significant damage to the valve or pump for that matter. Makes better sense now.
Thanks man-Steve

sump pumps dont need to be primied the only reason for the check valve on a sump pump is to keep water from the coming back from a storm sewer or crock

I stand corrected,LOL.Been about 4-5 years since even thinking about this stuff.Yeah I was thinking of a well pump.

Good info.thanx again-Steve
