Just wondering if they were revealed at MACNA or if they are going to be released soon. Not like I can have one right now on my 40g, but I'm just an interested equipment junkie.

Yes. They arrived the day before the show, the big 9480 should be being set up today. It went to Rick's Reef in New Orleans for testing. The 9440 is set up at AquaTek Tropical Fish in Austin for testing. It was set up last night and so far they tell me it is a very strong skimmer. I plan to check up on it tonight.

I got info from tunze.de website, I think you will find the master docs are only for the bigger tanks. So hopefully they wont upgrade the 9010 etc. as I have one coming tomorrow.
im also at present running the MCE600 including noise and overflow, cant wait to run em both together and try settle lots of heavy discussions.

Hi Roger,

Any updates on the testing of the Master DOC skimmers?

Do you have any pictures of the the skimmers in action?

I am pleased with the skimmers, I have pics but I screwed up resizing them and changed them to black and white, and like an idiot, I saved over the originals. I will try to get more pics and post what I have.

Here is the best of the pics I ruined, not to useful as they just cleaned it before I got there.

I have seen the 9480 in action at the store in New Orleans, and let me tell you, I am blown away by the amount of consistent skimmate that is being produced. I look forward ot the release of these skimmers.

It is a much bigger skimmer, with 4 needle wheel pumps, 12" diameter by 24" tall reactor. It also costs 3 times as much. It is much stronger than a 9020.

MSRP in US dollars

9420 $708.63
9440 $963.74
9460 $1623.41
9480 $1878.52
Spare pump to upgrade from 9420-9440 or 9460 to 9480 or make your own skimmer $255.11

We expect many companies will begin making skimmers with our pumps so this is another option. The advantage we offer is a patented auto adjust feature where a change in surface tension that normally causes a foam over, chokes the air intake and stops or reduces the skimming process until the surface tension returns to normal. Skimming also stops on our skimmers when the cup is full. The 9420 and 9440 cup hold 2L and the 9460 and 9480- cup holds 7L - that is almost 2 gallons!

That's great news Roger !

Would it be possible to give me the footprint (space I will need inside my sump) and height for each of the models ?

All these skimmers are in-sump models, right ?

Thanks

They are in sump, here is what I have

Vorbereitung für Wasserstand > 200mm:

Master DOC Skimmer 9420: Wasserstand bis 370mm, 1 x Hydrofoamer, Ausgangsrohr 230mm

Master DOC Skimmer 9440: Wasserstand bis 270mm, 2 x Hydrofoamer, Ausgangsrohr 120mm

Master DOC Skimmer 9460: Wasserstand bis 410mm, 3 x Hydrofoamer, 2 x Ausgangsrohr 280mm

Master DOC Skimmer 9480: Wasserstand bis 370mm, 4 x Hydrofoamer, 2 x Ausgangsrohr 240mm

The 9420 and 9440 will need an 18" sump but this could be reduced as the skimmer will include a kit to hook up the pump with a hose that I have not seen yet. It is 23" high

The 9460 and 9480 will need a 24" sump but the same kit will be included. It is 28" high. An additional 6" will be required to remove the cup.

sorry Roger is the 9020 the same as 9420 as far as performance.I wrote the wrong model that was my fault.I wanted to know if the new 9420 performed better than the old 9020 since it seems that they both do the same tank size.I am sorry for the mistake
