Nice, so you shop speciality pets then? They typically keep a good selection of coral and livestock. I plan to come down once my tank is ready for coral and fish. 125g is a good size, arent you getting snowed in to keep you from getting a tank today lol

If you are looking for a setup in central WV, i am going to have 2 available soon after my upgrade - 125g and 75g in Winfield, WV.

I say we start something new. It seems as if that club has died out and maybe starting something bigger better and newer will bring more to the club to attend swaps etc. Something maybe that's geared towards Wv folks mainly, and if others from surrounding states want to attend then they would def be welcome.

BUMP. Was anyone part of the Chemicalvalleyreefclub when it was up and running?? What if we tried to get Ron and Phil to get that back up and running then the club could be based out of Crosslanes WV (in between charleston and Hunington)

Yeah Ron and Phil are good guys to deal with. Decent prices as well im not sure they would be interested though since chemicalvalleyreef went out with a flop

WAS ANYONE PART OF CVRC?

It went like this - Chemical Valley Reef Club on this site - many, many supporters, many people involved. There would be frag swaps and auctions, 100s of frags, many people showed up.......then it became controlled by a business. Reef Central would not allow a business to control the club so CVR Club had to break away = Chemical valley reef community. Several people did not agree with a business running the club = Appalachian Reef Society on this site was formed on this site.

They both fizzled out 1. ARC on this site because the juice/work behind the club went to CVRC and 2. CVRC because it was a business running a club not hobbyist sharing ideas, swapping frags as it started.

I am a member of both. I buy nearly 100% of my stuff from Specialty Pets in Nitro, Ron/Phil know more about Reef Tanks than anyone I know (except for perhaps Jim in Ashland). A business running a club killed it for everyone last time, not sure it would not happen again.

I would suggest using a club that is already set up on this site - Appalachian Reef Society. It just needs some promotion to get the word out - that is where the store connections come in - Specialty Pets, Fujis, Inland Reef, etc. They are sometimes reluctant because if we are trading we perhaps not buying from them - that is understandable, it is give and take, depending on the perspective.

There was one in Beckley at the bottom of Maxwell Hill, I think it relocated - where? If the guy in Beckley lets you put up a flyer - that helps a bunch.

That is a brief history.

I am always looking for frags local, to buy or trade.

Paridise Pets Moved on down the hill. They are now located in the old value city plaza where ollies is now. There def not anything to write about. From what I understand, The pet store on the hill by wally world in Beckley will order anything you want, but they do not keep any saltwater livestock (and minimal dry goods) in he store.
Would love to see a club nearby...been at it a while and have all kinds of "what not to do's" to share!

I was part of CVRC as well until it broke apart I was actively on their forum as well. I as well buy a lot from specialty pets pets. Ron and Phil and I junk the other guy is joe they are all great guys. We should def get a new club and swap meet going again to trade and share advice. I'm from Beckley and agreed paradise pets relocated down by Ollie's but they never keep anything in stock their business is run very poorly so I rarely go in there anymore. Pet supplies plus up by Walmart will order anything saltwater related I've been ordering from them for the passed month or two and everything is great prices and great sizes to them. I will be ordering a pair of clowns on this next truck actually. If anyone is interested in starting something up or just meeting to swap and buy stuff PM me I'd be interested.

Does anyone in WV have a rimless setup for sale? I'm looking for one.
