What are the best additives to give a softie tank that has various zoos in it? I have a 30 gallon tank with various mushroom, rics and zoos and was wondering what I should put in the tank in terms of food (marine snow) chemicals (trace elements? strontium?). I would like to do an "œall in one" if possible. Also note that I do 5 gallon water changes about ever 2 weeks with reef crystals.

no on the iodine/additives.

most tanks have way too much iodine in them already.

just standard water changes, maybe some phytoplankton for the zoas (don't even know if they can process this TBH), if you have big palythoas you can feed them mysis/brine shrimp.

feed your ricordeas mysis, i've experimented with marine snow, i didn't notice anything with my corals really, but it seemed all the little tube worms, feather dusters, etc hithchikers on LR seemed to spread like crazy, increased pod growth as well.

now I use DT's phytoplankton it has a better effect.

oh and more light!

I change two gallons every other day of water, have a protein skimmer and tiny hang on the back refuge. I add B-ionic every two days and feed the snockins out of my corals. I make a mix of cyclopeeze, reef snow, phytoplankton, frozen daphnia, cyclops and reef plankton. Fish go nutty too when I feed. But doing it this way I have to do water changes in my 75 gallon tank.

Wow, thanks for all of the replys. I think I will stick with water changes and maybe a little bit of DT's Phyto. Aynway, Ill let you know how they are doing and if anything change. THANKS AGAIN!

I too would reccomend water changes. I have a 37 gal with a 10 gal sump. I do a weekly water change of 10 gal. I haven't dosed or added anything in 2 yrs since all the beneficial needs are received in the water changes.I however would suggest running carbon since softies tend to wage a lot of chemicle warfare

Thanks, I currently do run carbon. Does anyone know of a good website to get a hang on refugium? Right now I have a 30 gal tank and on the back is a marinland w/biowheel filter (with carbon) and a coralife skimmer (75gal max?)

I would need to fit it between those two items.
