I had a pretty big wall hammer before i severely neglected my tank and it died. I tend to leave skeletons in the tank in case there is something else on there. Well I went to throw out the skeleton and saw these guys. Biggest is around 1/2 inch and there are 3 more much smaller guys. Any ideas?

Looks like a ball anemone and a lot of cyanobateria. Normally I only see mine open at night. Could be a mojano anemone too, but I've never seen a white one like that. It might just be your camera, but from the picture itself it looks more like a ball anemone.

yea I have a cyano issue I'm still tracking the source of. I don't think its a Majano even though I did have 1 but I removed him. he was also in a different part of the tank and these are purplish with those white tips. I'm going to google ball anem. and see what comes up.

Anyone else?

I'm looking into these and I'm pretty sure you guys are right. SushiGirl why the headbang? I haven't found anything negative. I have to readjust the rock so they get less light.

Because I have more than 1 per gallon in my 55 & they irritate any coral they are next to. I've tried lemon juice, kalk powder, & a mix of lemon juice & kalk injected into them & they won't die. It seems I'm the only person who's ever had troube with them.

Upon further searching it seems they get conflicted opinions. Melev's site says reef safe other sites are saying they sting and can get out of hand. Should I keep them or remove them?

edit: removing them, too many reports of take overs and then trouble removing them.

Just an update for those looking these up. When I took out the rock it looks like the biggest head had sprouted another 4-5. I hope I took them out before they spread.
